Content:
In simple terms, green hot peppers are unripe chili known to all. Before reaching a ripe state, it is already completely enriched with vitamins, but has not yet turned into its usual burgundy color. In this state, pepper has a high concentration of vitamin C and capsaicin, which are widely used in cosmetics and medicine, and in addition, it is very popular and popular in cooking.
Green hot peppers: application
The warming properties of green pepper are milder in comparison with red, nevertheless, it retains auxiliary qualities that can be used to reduce pain of various origins. It has a positive effect on arthritic inflammation and neuralgia.
We are dearly loved by cosmetologists for their help in the fight against fat deposits and cellulite. Using cosmetology products based on hot peppers, both red and green, the temperature of the treated area of the body will rise, due to which fat cells will be broken down without affecting carbohydrates.
Pepper is good in the prevention of intestinal disorders, but it is absolutely excluded for gastritis and ulcers (can seriously harm). With a healthy state of the digestive system, it improves and helps in its work. Suitable for treating the oral cavity against bacteria and infections.
But the main benefit of pepper is the capsaicin it contains. It provokes cancer cells to self-destruct, bypassing and not harming healthy tissues.
Research has shown that chili peppers are effective against esophageal cancer. In addition, research continues in this direction in relation to the lungs, as well as the prostate gland.
Remember that the benefits are possible, if the product is consumed in a reasonable range, the excess will be harmful and possibly serious.
Recall that green pepper is an underripe red, it does not have a subdivision into its own varieties, but we can safely distinguish two of the most popular varieties of red pepper that they like to use in this state.
Anaheim variety
Has two well-known names: Anaheim and Californian Chile, bred in North America. The fruit reaches up to 7 cm in length, and the weight does not exceed 10 grams. Taste - spicy. In terms of ripeness and ripeness, Idaho peppers go from green to bright red.
The fruits of the variety are used in food, cosmetology and medicine. It is a fortified product and even belongs to high-vitamin varieties, and the protein and fiber content is higher than in its congeners.
With 8-10 plants, you will harvest about 0.4 kilograms of premium peppers. The planting scheme for this variety is preferable according to the scheme from 8 to 10 seedlings per square meter of soil.
Serrano variety
The Serrano variety is one of the representatives of the Mexican Chile. The size of its fruits is not large, about 4 cm, the shape is oblong elongated with an iridescent shine of the skin. In the green state, the fruit is already fully enriched with all vitamins and minerals corresponding to the variety, and in the red state it is considered fully ripe.
An interesting fact is that green peppers, although spicy, are still inferior in this quality to red ones. Due to its structure and characteristic partitions for the variety inside the fruit, it is softer to the taste of other peppers. Thanks to this property, the field of application in cooking of green Serrano pepper is very wide.
The fruits of this variety can be removed and used for the above purposes already three months after the seed germination, and the yield of Serrano will only delight you.
Green hot peppers: recommendations
Hot green peppers are grown in two ways: greenhouse and ground or at home.
Let's take a look at both ways.
Peppers have an attractive appearance, so deciding to grow it at home, you will get not only a harvest, but also a "house" plant. During the ripening of the fruits, the plant will be decorated with small fruits and will delight your eyes.
Pepper is grown from seed, with room cultivation, sowing is performed in February. The whole process is not complicated, but let's note the main points:
- Before use, treat the selected dishes with boiling water.
- Give preference to plastic containers with a volume of 2 liters.
- Cover the bottom with expanded clay, crushed stone or coal, they will perform the function of drainage.
- The soil for sowing seeds should contain humus, sand and fallen leaves.
- Before placing the seeds in the soil, they are soaked and allowed to swell a little. The holes are made one and a half centimeters deep. No more than three seeds are placed in one hole.
- Placing seeds in a prepared place, with the help of a film (glass), a greenhouse effect is created by covering the planting with it. After seven days, you will be able to see young shoots. Peppers are planted in individual pots as soon as the first leaves are formed, but it is permissible to leave them in the same dish, removing not matured and excess shoots.
For good growth, plants can be placed on a window, remember pepper loves light, choose the sunny side of your house or apartment accordingly.
Growing a vegetable indoors, you will not be burdened with complex care, regular watering and periodic fertilization of the soil is all that is needed. You can try the first fruits after 2 months, but each variety is individual and these periods vary.
A plant that has reached 20 cm in height pinches the top, since without this you will be left without a crop, the bush will grow and the fruits will not form.
The chili pepper variety also loves warm and light growing conditions, takes root and develops both in the open field and in the greenhouse (except for the northern regions)
He is not whimsical in choosing the soil, but especially acidic areas should be avoided. Pepper bears fruit best of all on sandy loam and medium-loamy soils. Choose a neutral acidity level.
Seedlings for planting in the garden begins to be prepared in February and ends in March, during this period of time the seeds are prepared and planted. Pre-preparation is the same as for indoor breeding. The seeds are pre-soaked, and after that they are placed in the ground.
Having received the first shoots, the plants are moved to peat pots. Young peppers love to be gentle with themselves during the transplanting process, since their root system is still very weak and easily damaged. The comfortable temperature regime varies from +20 to +15, while the first is the temperature in the daytime, and the second at night. Hot peppers transplanted into pots save you from all the stress of the day.
Hardening young plants will have a beneficial effect on further development in the open field. The process itself is carried out as follows: the seedlings are left in the fresh air until the evening hours, while not allowing them to be outside at temperatures below +10.
A transplant to the main place of growth is performed when the seedlings reach a height of 15 centimeters. It is important to allow the plant to adapt to a new place, a sign that the plant has taken root is the formation of new leaves. After that, the top of the plant is fixed.
To get the highest possible yield, be sure to remove all shoots except the top five. Once in a permanent place, hot peppers need to be fed and moistened.
Let's highlight some watering rules:
1. Water should be at room temperature.
2. Water must not be chlorinated. Give preference to rain or settled.
3. Watering frequency:
- Once every seven days before flowering, in dry and hot weather, it is permissible to double the frequency.
- 1 to 3 times a week during the flowering period.
4.The norm of water volumes in the first period is 12 liters per 1 square meter, the second period is 14 liters per 1 square meter.
In top dressing, cow dung and ash are preferred. Also, solutions of nettle and dandelion are prepared for nutrition. You can fertilize hot peppers during flowering and fruiting, with a frequency of 1 every 10 days, the gap can be increased, but not reduced.
With periodic loosening of the soil, the pepper will develop even better.
That's all the basics of growing hot peppers. Observing them, you will enjoy admiring their appearance, taste and benefits.

I decided to take a chance and grow hot peppers at home for culinary purposes. There were no particular hopes, but the pepper pleased me. The pungency of the taste was less than expected, but that did not upset me.

Bell peppers and Serrano varieties grow well in our greenhouse. I love the ease of care and growing. I add the red ones to the canning, and the red ones to the table. I advise everyone, you will not regret it.
