The color of the peel is yellow, however, the whole apple is covered with a bright striped blush, so it looks very attractive from the side. The subcutaneous points are clearly visible. The fruits are attached with short stalks of small diameter. Each apple has a small funnel.
The calyx on the fruit is wide enough. Inside each fruit are seed chambers with a large number of seeds. The fruit tastes a lot of juice and is very sweet. The pulp is characterized by a creamy shade. The crop can be harvested at the beginning of September. Moreover, its shelf life is more than 140 days. The fruits are consumed fresh, and also used for harvesting.
Gardeners are very fond of the Winter Saffron apple variety, because it has excellent appearance and taste, and the fruits lie well for a long period of time. The tree begins to bear fruit 4 years after planting. However, it should be noted that fruiting is very stable here. Speaking of frost resistance, average cold resistance is noted, since in very cold years the plant can freeze slightly. But at the same time, the Winter Saffron apple tree has a high immunity to scab.
Conclusion
The Winter Saffron apple variety is a very good planting option as it produces consistently tasty fruits that can be stored for a long time. At the same time, the winter saffron apple tree is rarely affected by scab. But insufficient frost resistance does not allow growing the Winter Saffron apple tree in regions characterized by severe winters.
