The Taganai apple tree is a rather tall tree with dark brown bark on the trunk and main "skeletal" branches and a round-pyramidal crown. Shoots are colored in a lighter shade of brown. A dark green leaf blade of a large size, with a slight pubescence and a small-crested edge. Large white-pink flowers have the shape of a shallow bowl. Fruits are tied on any types of fruit wood, as well as on last year's increments.
The Taganay apple tree begins bearing fruit in the fifth or sixth year. The first few years, the yield gradually increases, and then for a long time the apple tree bears fruit regularly, but with age, some periodicity in fruiting may appear. In the most successful years, there is a chance to harvest more than eighty kilograms of fruit from the tree. But in order to harvest a rich harvest, the gardener will have to take care of the presence of pollinating apple trees in the garden in advance, for the Taganai apple tree the best companions will be “Memory of Zhavoronkov», «Miasskoe», «Anise purple».
The fruits of the Taganai apple tree do not reach medium size, but in terms of taste and appearance they are not inferior to many large-fruited varieties. Their rather delicate skin is colored green-yellow and covered with a burgundy-red "blush". The creamy pulp of the fruit contains a lot of juice and has a balanced sweet-sour taste. In addition to fresh consumption, apples are suitable for any processing and preservation, and can also be stored for three months in a cool storage without losing their taste.
Apple-tree Taganay: reviews of gardeners about the variety
- Anastasia Mikhailovna, Sverdlovsk region: “I've heard bad reviews about the Taganai apple tree, but I don't share them. Still, winter hardiness and the ability to adapt to environmental conditions is a very important quality for a fruit tree, which is supposed to be grown in the unpredictable climate of the Ural region. Namely, these two qualities are fully present in the Taganai apple tree ”.
- Marina Vasilievna, Chelyabinsk region: “The Taganai apple variety has been growing on my site for many years, I was happy with everything, and only when the summer turned out to be hot, I felt one big drawback. It turns out that in hot and dry summers, some of the fruits of the Taganai apple tree can crumble before ripening, and the taste of the remaining ones decreases. I suppose that in such weather the Taganai apple tree needs very abundant watering. "
