The novelty was developed by means of hybridization, the work was carried out in 1981. Since 1994, the resulting seedling has been attributed to the elite varieties. When grown on the area of the selection garden, the first harvest was obtained already in 1990. The authorship was shared by the scientists-breeders: E. N. Sedov, V. V. Zhdanov, Z. M. Serova, E. A. Dolmatov.
Since 1998, the Start apple variety has been included in the lists of the State test in the Central, Central Black Earth and Lower Volga regions of Russia. Zoning fell on 2002.

Apples of the Start variety are endowed with the growth force of the average. Rounded crown shaping. The bark of the trunk and main branches is gray and smooth.
Refined apple shoots Start of a straight-growing type, slightly rounded in cross-section. Covered with rich pubescence. A few lentils on the shoots are small in size. Buds strongly pressed against the shoot are formed in a circle and covered with pubescence. The leaf plates are oblong-ovoid, elongate sharpened to the apex, which has a helical twist. Pedicel length is average, the column of pistils grows together, pubescence is absent.
The fruits of the Start apple variety do not exceed 140 grams in weight and are of average size. Formed by an oblong appearance, slightly beveled with wide ribbing. The dry skin of the apple shines a little. The main color of the fruit at the time of collection is greenish. With the onset of full consumer maturity, the color smoothly passes to a more yellow tint. Cover coloration occupies a smaller part of the apple surface and is expressed by slightly blurred stripes and interspersed with a brick, even more red color.
A large number of subcutaneous dots, clearly visible, of a green tone. Curved peduncle, oblique type. The funnel of the fruit is formed by a pointed cone, narrow in width, covered with a slight rustiness. Semi-open cup. Wide in size, fairly deep saucer, covered with small grooves. Seed chambers are closed. A subgacular tube develops in a cup-shaped form. Egg-shaped seeds that are brown when they reach full maturity.
White apple flesh Start, in some cases slightly greenish color, good density. The texture of the flesh is fine-grained, but very juicy in content. Sour-sweet attractive taste. The appearance and taste of apple fruits of this variety can be estimated at 4.3 points. The content of ascorbic acid in the composition of the raw mass of the fruit is average.
At the time of cultivation in the orchards of the Orel region, statistics indicate the timing of the onset of the maturity of the crop for large-scale harvest, this is approximately from 15 to 20 September.The shelf life of the harvested fruits is quite attractive; until the last days of February, the fruits can retain their taste and appearance.
