The apple-tree Flame of Elbrus is a product of selection of the Federal State Budgetary Scientific Institution of the North Caucasian NIIGiPS, obtained as a result of crossing the varieties "Red Delicious" and "Calvil snow". A team of scientists consisting of P.P. Kostyk, R.S. Shidakov, O.A. Varkvasov and V.N. Berbekov worked on the creation of the variety, and the result of their efforts was a wonderful winter apple variety Flame Elbrus, zoned for Kabardino-Balkaria, and also successfully cultivated in the Krasnodar Territory, Stavropol Territory and in the Rostov Region.

Medium-sized trees of the Flame of Elbrus apple variety initially have a wide-pyramidal crown, but as the tree grows and begins to bear fruit, it becomes drooping. The shade of the bark on different parts of the tree is noticeably different: on the trunk it is light brown, on the main branches that make up the "skeleton" of the tree, it is brown with a grayish tint, and young shoots are colored red-brown. Large shiny leaf plates are colored in a dark shade of green, and large flowers in a light shade of pink.
Fruits, apple variety Flame of Elbrus, are formed both on simple or complex ringlets and on fruit twigs. The tree begins to bear fruit at the age of five, that is, by planting a one-year-old seedling, in four years you can taste the first apples. The fruits have a rounded-conical shape, ribbing is felt on the surface. Almost the entire smooth and shiny surface of apples is occupied by a cover color of a deep red color. The yellowish-creamy juicy pulp has a pleasant taste, in which there is a balance between acidity and sweetness, and has a dense medium-grained texture.
The fruits of the Flame of Elbrus apple tree have not only good taste, but also excellent commercial qualities, they tolerate transportation without problems, and can also be stored almost until the end of winter, subject to storage conditions (in a room with a low temperature).
Advantages and disadvantages
The apple tree Flame of Elbrus can boast of a number of advantages, but at the same time, one cannot ignore some of the obvious disadvantages of the variety. So that every gardener can analyze the information and make an informed decision before buying seedlings, we will list both qualities.
