Apple tree Papirovka - description and characteristics
These trees are of medium size, their crown is wide-pyramidal, but this characteristic is inherent in the plant only at a young age. Therefore, at maturity, the crown changes shape. Over time, the appearance of the tree becomes rounded. On the main branches, the bark is light gray, the culture bears fruit quite intensively. The shoots are not very thick, on them the bark is brownish olive, the shoots are quite strongly omitted. On the plant you can see lentils, which are elongated, white in color, it should be said that they are relatively small. But the form of vegetative buds is flat, they are usually small, have a gray color, flattened. The foliage is not very large, it also has an average size, it is ovoid or elliptical in shape, the leaf plates are gray-green in color, they are almost dull, quite strongly omitted. The edges of the leaves are uneven, serrated. The leaf plates are slightly curved, the tips are raised upward, therefore, in appearance, the leaf sometimes resembles a spoon. If we talk about the petioles, then at the bases of the leaf plates they are not very long, but closer to the shoot they are more oblong. In color, they are either very pale or not at all colored. A lot of side shoots are formed on the plant. If we talk about the bark, then it is a little shiny. On the shoots, very beautiful snow-white flowers are always formed, which, by the way, are also quite large. However, the buds of the plant are pink, but the petals are white. They are quite oblong, the edges are either closed or raised, criss-crossing. Usually in these plants, the height of the pistil and anthers is practically the same.
Features of the variety
The fruits of this apple tree are of average size, on young plants they are slightly larger, the flesh of apples is quite dense, in shape the fruits are round, slightly conical. The ribs are clearly visible on the apples, it should be noted that the fruits are heterogeneous in shape, the largest fruits in appearance can even resemble a kind of trihedral. On most of the fruits, you can see a beautiful seam, an oblong fold of the skin. The blush on the fruits does not form, the fruits are greenish-yellow in color, when the fruits are fully ripe, the skin will be covered with a whitish bloom. Also on the surface, you can see many subcutaneous dots that have a whitish or greenish color. They are large enough, well visible. The peel of apples is tender and dry enough. The stalks are of medium length, and the funnels are also not very large. Closed cups. The seed nests are shaped like a bulb; the chambers themselves are large enough, either half-open or open. The seeds are irregular in shape. They are usually quite angular and light brown in color. The pulp of fruits, as we noted earlier, is quite dense, white, coarse-grained, and at optimal ripeness it is also quite juicy. The fruits have a pronounced sour-sweet taste, pleasant aroma. When the fruits are overripe, they become too soft. So, these apples are very useful for adults and children. The fruits contain: ascorbic acid, sugars, titratable acids. Harvesting can be done very early; in temperate continental climates, removable maturity begins at the beginning of August. Harvesting is always easy and pleasant, since the stalks are not tightly attached to the branches. After harvesting, the fruit can be eaten immediately. However, the fruits are not stored for long, usually no more than 1 month, and sometimes 2-3 weeks. Due to the fact that this variety of apple trees does not have a cover color, and the skin is quite thin, dark spots form on the apples when pressed and hit, therefore, the fruits must be handled carefully. In this regard, we note: the transportability of fruits is below average. But the early maturity is good enough. Usually, plants begin to bear fruit as early as 4 years of age, if you planted a two-year-old. The plants have good yields, but sometimes the trees bear fruit periodically.
Apple tree Papirovka: advantages and disadvantages
The advantages of the variety include high winter hardiness; usually, even at the lowest temperatures, neither the bark nor the flower buds freeze. Therefore, it is possible to plant this plant even in unfavorable climatic zones, however, it is not recommended to grow this variety beyond the Urals, these regions were not included in the State Register of the Distribution of the variety. It should be noted that the plant has good resistance to many types of diseases. The culture bears fruit early, already at the beginning of August, which is also considered an advantage, and this plant enters the fruiting stage already at the age of 4. The disadvantages of the variety include low transportability of apples, susceptibility to external influences (for fruits), as well as the frequency of fruiting. Despite this, this variety was used to create other hybrids, for example, crossing with the Lomonosov apple tree and Mana, the results of breeders and gardeners were pleased.
