Apple tree stunted
Content:
Apple tree Low-growing triploid type of winter fruiting. Breeding work was carried out at VNIISPK and VNIIS them. I. V. Michurin. A new variety was obtained by hybridizing the Skryzhapel and Pepin saffron varieties in 1954. Hybridization of the apple variety Nizrosloe was carried out at the Research Institute of GARDENING them. IV Michurin by sowing seed material and further selection work carried out on the territory of the zonal experimental station in Orel.
The authors of the work are N. Ye. Sedov, V. K. Zaets, N. G. Krasova., M. V. Mikheeva. The apple variety Low-growing has been included in the lists for state testing since 1983. Already in 1997, the new apple tree was included in the list of the State Register of Achievements in Breeding Works. Zoning took place on the territory of the center of the Chernozem region.
Apple tree Low-growing: variety description and characteristics
Apple tree undersized: photo of the variety
The growth of the apple variety Low-growing is relatively low, the formation of the crown is slightly flattened, the leaf cover and developed shoots do not create special thickening. Curved direction of growth of the main branches, branches grow from the trunk at an almost right angle. The direction of the limb of the branches to the bottom. The bark of the main branches and the trunk is smooth in texture, colored brown with a grayish tint. Fruiting is carried out directly on ringlets of a simple and complex structure, also on fruit twigs.
Thickened shoots of apple-tree variety Nizkosloe, straight direction of growth. There is a slight facetness in the section of the shoot. The color of the shoots is brown, there is a very strong pubescence. Smallish size of small lentils. The bud is slightly pressed against the shoot. The shape of the kidneys is conical, pubescence along the surface of the kidney.
The leafy plates of the apple variety Low-growing, large in size, form an oblong shape. The leaf is sharply pointed towards the top. Wrinkled surface, matte finish. Very deep nerve is observed. The main part of the leaf plate is slightly concave downward. The leaves are also covered with pronounced pubescence. Along the edge of the leaves, there is a framing with a slightly wavy, small-toothed serration. The leaf petioles are thickened, painted in the appropriate color and covered with pubescence.
Large flowers, saucer-shaped formation. The buds of the inflorescence are colored lightened pink. The petals are pink in tone to the bud, formed by a smooth oval. The edges of the petals are slightly raised. Slightly closed. Anthers and stigmas of pistils are located at one level.
The apple tree of the Low-growing variety has medium-sized fruits, flattened-rounded. On the surface there are pronounced, large ribs. The texture of the peel is smooth, slightly dryish, shiny coating. Yellow in color, with a greenish tinge, the main color of the apple. The cover color takes up most of the fruit and is expressed by red stripes that merge into a continuous cover.
The subcutaneous points are numerous, white and very clearly visible. The thickened peduncle is curved. The deepened funnel of the apple has a blunt-conical shape, there is no rustiness. Closed apple cup. Smallish saucer, narrow formation, very strong furrowing. The apple pulp is colored greenish, dense texture, fine-grained pulp structure. The fruits of the Stunted apple tree have very good juiciness and a pleasant, sour-sweet taste. On the rating scale, the appearance of the fetus is very attractive and is rated at 4.3 points. The palatability of apples of the Nizkorosloe variety was estimated at 4.2 points.According to the results of the chemical analysis on the composition of the fruits, the following indicators were revealed: the total amount of sugars does not exceed 10.6%, ascorbic acid is contained in the amount of 18 mg per 100 grams of the product, the amount of titratable acids is 0.41%, the P-active substance is in the amount of 257 mg per 100 grams of fetal mass.
The apple variety Low-growing is noted for its exceptional early maturity. An adult tree of the Low-growing variety is noted for excellent productivity, almost regular fruiting. Apple trees are endowed with excellent cold winter resistance. For example, having considered the statistics of tree growth in different regions, 1978-1979 turned out to be with a particularly low temperature, up to almost -37 degrees. At the same time, the scale of freezing of fruit trees was estimated at only 1.8 points, this is a rather insignificant ratio. Hence, we can say that trees are able to survive a very severe frost. The resistance of trees and leaves to scab disease is of average grade, therefore, fruit plantations need preventive treatments and regular inspection to detect this disease, since there is a risk of damage.
Advantages and disadvantages
TO merits apple varieties Low-growing can be attributed:
- early-growing quality, which is attractive to many gardeners;
- increased yields and stability in regular fruiting.
Disadvantage apple trees undersized can be considered a weak resistance of the tree and foliage to scab damage, in those years when the humidity is increased.
