A new hybrid was obtained by crossing the famous "Papirovka" with "Ranetka purple".
Apple tree Beauty of Buryatia - description and characteristics
Trees of "Beauty of Buryatia" are notable for their low growth and rather resemble bushes. Their not too dense crowns of a rounded shape become spreading as the trees mature. Shoots and branches of the "Beauty of Buryatia" have average leafiness. The stem of the apple trees and the skeletal branches are covered with light brown bark. Straight tree branches are compact and vertically oriented. The main fruit formations are simple annulus.
The shoots, rounded in cross-section, are brown-brown in color and of medium thickness, do not have bends; they are characterized by the presence of an edge along the entire length. Their surface is covered with a few small lenticels. Tiny, rounded buds adhere closely to the bark of the shoots.
The leaves, which are dark green in color, are oriented vertically, they are characterized by a rounded base and serrated serrated contours. The leathery surface of the leaves is covered with wrinkles, it is characterized by a glossy sheen and lack of edge. The leaves are attached to the shoots by means of long petioles surrounded by thin threadlike stipules. In some cases, stipules are absent.
During the flowering period, branches and shoots of trees of the Krasa Buryatiya variety are covered with medium-sized snow-white saucer-shaped flowers. The stigma of their pistils, as a rule, is located higher than the anthers.
"Beauty of Buryatia" cannot boast of the large size of its apples. Its fruits are one-dimensional, have a weakly flattened spherical shape with different sides. The smooth skin is waxy and light yellow in color with a bright but indistinct crimson tan. There is also a point rustiness, which is especially noticeable in the area of the fruit funnel. The wide saucer is medium in size. Apples of the Krasa Buryatiya variety are attached to the branches with a thin, not too long stalk.
The fibrous part of the apples of this variety has a beautiful cream color, medium density and juice saturation, as well as a fine-grained consistency. The fruits of the "Beauty of Buryatia" are characterized by a good sweet and sour flavor bouquet and medium intensity aroma. The chemical composition of the fibrous part of apples includes a lot of sugar (over 11%), acid (1%), vitamin C (17 mg per 100 g), as well as P-active components (181 mg per 100 g). Apples of the Krasa Buryatiya variety have a universal purpose: they are eaten fresh, and also used for preservation, making preserves and jams.
Apple tree Krasa Buryatia: variety features
"Beauty of Buryatia" begins to produce crops at the age of 4 years. This variety is self-fertile, therefore, it requires the presence of nearby pollinators for fruiting. The best option for pollination will be the variety "Ermolaeva 23", it is also allowed by pollination with the variety "Gift to BAM".Having entered the fruiting period, apple trees of the Krasa Buryatiya variety bring a bountiful annual harvest. On average, about 20 kg of apples are harvested from each tree. The harvested ripe fruits can be kept fresh for up to 60 days.
Apple tree Beauty of Buryatia: advantages and disadvantages
The Krasa Buryatiya variety demonstrates a number of positive qualities. In addition to the good taste of apples, the composition of the pulp rich in vitamins and their versatility, the yield of the variety is noted, as well as the compact size of the apple trees, which greatly simplifies the collection of fruits. Despite the fact that the apples of this variety have a very modest size, they are the largest among all local varieties common in Buryatia. Due to its good winter hardiness and the ability to withstand a short drought, "Beauty of Buryatia" perfectly adapts on the territory of Transbaikalia, as well as in the northern regions of Siberia.
The only drawback of this variety is the small weight of apples, since even with a high yield, the volume of fruits harvested remains rather modest.
