From the history of selection
The birthplace of the Korey apple variety is Japan. It came out through hybridization of the varieties "Golden Delicious" and "Indus" with the best qualities - with excellent taste and large apple size. The place where "Korey" grows is the North Caucasus. The variety was zoned into the southern regions of the Russian Federation: Rostov Region, Krasnodar Territory, Dagestan.

The Korean apple tree has an average winter hardiness, and the variety also has an early fruiting period (in the fifth year).
Among the advantages of the Korey apple variety, one can emphasize: high yields, drought resistance, high rates of early maturity, and storage duration.
Among the disadvantages of the variety, it is worth noting: self-infertility, predisposition to scab disease, with high yields, the size of the fruits decreases, blooms in the 20th of April.
Pollinators for the Kora apple tree are essential. For example, such as - "Golden delicious", "Kuban", "Idared". They are planted near the Korai apple tree.
Harvesting begins in September and ends in October. The apple tree bears fruit every year with a high yield (about 300 centners per hectare, low-growing rootstocks yield up to 600 centners). Korey apples are perfectly stored (until May) and transported. The variety has a tasting rating of 4.5 points. It is eaten raw and canned.
The growth of the trees is average, they grow moderately, the maximum height is 6 meters. Trees of the variety have a spreading or weeping (in mature trees) crown.
The Korai apple tree is a tree with long, arched, dark gray branches. The angle of inclination of the lower branches and trunk is sharp, and the angle of the upper and trunk is straight. The shoots are slightly pubescent. Fruits are formed on average - 2-3 pieces on two-year-old shoots (also give last year's growth).
The size of the leaves is medium, the shape is ovoid, the surface is glossy, a slight curl at the tip of the leaves.
Apple Korah is an elongated, oblong-conical fruit, the weight of one apple can reach 200 grams. The skin is yellowish-green, the bright sun gives brown blush. The color of the pulp is greenish, the consistency is juicy, the taste is sweet. At maturity, the fruit has a light melon aroma.

Alexander: “I love this Korai apple tree very much - it is delicious and sweet. I put the harvest in the basement, where the apples can lie until the end of May. These apples are in great demand, children and adults like them. In general, the Korey apple variety is unpretentious, although it loves watering. I cut and feed the trees as standard. The yields are excellent. My household is happy, as are the guests ... "
Maria: “I noticed this variety many years ago. The fruits are large, tasty and crunchy, the juice flows straight down, and there is a melon aroma. The winter hardiness of the Korai apple tree is excellent. Despite the fact that my Korea trees are quite old, they bear fruit perfectly every year, give a lot of big tasty fruits. Would recommend the Korai apple tree to any gardener! "
Margarita: “I have a large supply of Korah apples. Enough for the whole winter, and for part of the spring. And even in the spring they retained their taste and juiciness.Korah's apples did not shrink a bit, and they smell of melon. There is only one downside: sometimes scab attacks, especially if it rains a lot. Circumcision and feeding helps. As a result - an excellent annual harvest! Recommend Korah to everyone!
Apple tree Korah: planting and care

The quality of the future harvest begins with the competent planting of seedlings. This statement applies to any fruit tree, but especially to an apple tree.
How to plant
- The landing site should be sunny and not exposed to winds.
- It is important to pay attention to the occurrence of groundwater (should be no more than 2 meters). If groundwater is close to a tree, then it can rot and ultimately die.
- It is important to organize the drainage layer.
- The distance between seedlings should be approximately 3.5 meters, between rows - 5 meters (for a medium-sized variety grown using a seed stock).
- It is necessary to prepare the landing pit in advance. If you decide to plant in the fall, then the preparation begins in 1.5 months, in the case of spring planting, they begin to prepare the pits in the fall.
- Pit dimensions: depth - 0.8 m, width - 0.9 m. If you have fertile soil on your site, then the planting pit may be the size of the root system.
- The composition of the soil mixture: topsoil, humus (2 buckets), peat (3 buckets), superphosphate (1 kg), wood ash (1 kg) or potassium sulfate (160 g).
It is worth remembering that the soil mixture should not contain nitrogen fertilizer and cow manure, as they adversely affect the rooting of seedlings.
In the first growing season, the plant does not need to be fed, since there is enough fertilizer applied in the planting pit. This is enough for at least one season.
How to trim properly
With the help of an important agrotechnical technique - pruning of seedlings, it is possible to form the crowns of young trees, thereby strengthening their immunity and frost resistance. All this affects the quality of the crop.
You should start pruning young seedlings in the first spring:
- An unbranched annual plant is cut to a height of 0.8-1 m.
- In a branching one-year-old and two-year-old, branches that form sharp corners with the trunk should be removed, and the central conductor should be shortened by a third.
- The length of the center conductor should be 0.15-0.2 meters longer than the rest of the branches.
For the next 3-5 years, the trees are not pruned, so as not to delay the time when the apple tree begins to bear fruit. Regularly, the tree needs to be freed from diseased branches and the length of the central conductor should be shortened if it grows too quickly.
Do fruit trees need to be pruned? For mature trees, sanitary and rejuvenating pruning is necessary for the strength and development of the plant and to avoid thickening of the crown.
For this purpose: whole branches are thinned out (cut out); partially shorten the branch. If the krona is strongly thickened, then it must be thinned out gradually over 2-3 years, so as not to provoke a weakening of the plant.
How to fertilize
It is quite easy to feed the Kora apple tree, no special knowledge is required.
- 1st spring fertilizer. It is brought in when the first leaves appear. Digging up the zone of the trunk circle, urea (500 g) or a special mixture (ammofoska and ammonium nitrate 30 g each) or 4-5 buckets of humus are introduced. The quantity is indicated for one apple tree.
- If the weather is rainy, then it is possible to scatter fertilizer in the root zone on the surface of the soil.
- 2nd spring fertilizer. It is brought in when the apple trees are in bloom. This dressing is in the form of a solution (for 10 liters of water). Dilute superphosphate (100 g) and potassium sulfate (65 g) or urea (250 g) or slurry (0.5 buckets) or make a solution with chicken droppings (1.5 l). For one tree, 4 buckets of one of the solutions are enough.
- 3rd summer foliar fertilizer. Dates - mid-July. Top dressing consists in spraying with a urea solution, and after 14 days - using phosphorus and potassium fertilizers.
- 4th root fertilizer. Top dressing is carried out using complex phosphorus-potassium mixtures, introducing them into the trunk circles of fruit trees.
If you have a new plot with poor infertile soil, then it is necessary to carry out preliminary (before planting an apple orchard) cultivation in the form of nitrogen fertilization and digging into the soil.
Advantages and disadvantages of Kore apples

Since the 50s of the XX century, it has become popular to grow fruits on a low-growing rootstock (dwarf or semi-dwarf).
Let's consider the advantages of this method:
- high productivity;
- fast fertility (bears fruit in the 2nd or 3rd year);
- the garden takes up less space (dense planting);
- the close occurrence of gruent waters is not a hindrance to this method of cultivation;
- the size of Korey apples is larger, more perfect taste;
- dwarf plantings live up to 20 years, and despite their short stature, they give huge yields in comparison with vigorous fruit trees.
Try to grow Korean apple trees with a low-growing stock, and you will be convinced of the ease of caring for them. And harvests of delicious fruits will delight you every year.
