Trees can be planted both in spring and in autumn, but nevertheless, most gardeners prefer planting in spring, during the summer the apple tree manages to root well, adapt and get stronger. The most successful place for a fruit tree will be a small hill, southern or southwestern slope. The most important thing is that the place is dry and well lit. Make sure the water table is deep enough to prevent root damage as the tree grows.
The depth of the planting hole should be about a meter, and its diameter should be at least seventy centimeters. A pole must be installed in the bottom of the pit, which in the first months will serve as a support for the seedling. Then a drainage layer of stones, broken brick, crushed stone or expanded clay should be laid, and on top of it a nutrient soil should be poured, consisting of fertile soil (topsoil), compost, peat and potassium-phosphorus fertilizers. After the preparatory work, at least 15-20 days should pass before planting, during which time the minerals will have time to dissolve and will not harm the roots of the tree.
Lower the tree into the planting hole and spread its roots on a mound of nutritious soil. Fill the roots with the rest of the soil mixture, tamp it a little and water it abundantly. The seedling should be neatly and not tightly tied to the support so as not to damage the bark. When planting, make sure the root collar is 3-5 cm above the ground.
In the first year after planting, the apple tree requires especially close attention. It must be watered regularly, a month after planting, fed with nitrogen fertilizer and must be prepared for winter by mulching the trunk circle and insulating the tree trunk. "Kandil Orlovsky" is a winter-hardy variety that can withstand frosts down to -35 degrees, but this quality will manifest itself in a few years, when the tree grows up and gets stronger.
In the future, the tree must be fed 2-4 times per season. For root dressing, you can use organic matter (manure or bird droppings), but you must first water the soil with plain water. The tree perceives minerals better as foliar feeding.
The crown of Kandil Orlovsky apple trees can be formed without the intervention of the gardener, however, sanitary, and eventually rejuvenating pruning should be carried out annually, removing damaged, broken and dry branches. It should also be borne in mind that under the weight of the fruit, the branches sometimes bend strongly and can break. Therefore, it is necessary to timely install supports that will support the branches of the tree until the end of the harvest.
Diseases and harmful insects. Prevention.

Like any other fruit tree, the Kandil Orlovsky apple tree can be attacked by harmful insects, including the moth, various types of aphids and moths. To combat detected pests during the ripening period of the crop, you should not use chemicals, so that the fruits remain environmentally friendly, try to prepare any remedy according to folk recipes. But before flowering and after harvesting, you can use an insecticide to combat harmful insects, and as a preventive measure. It is also recommended to put a belt with an adhesive layer on the apple tree trunk, but the surface of which pests will stick (the adhesive layer must be periodically renewed). And of course, it is necessary to carry out timely sanitary pruning, remove and destroy falling leaves, remove weeds and loosen the soil around the tree.
If we talk about diseases, then this tree has the highest possible resistance to scab and other fungal diseases.
