In the Buryat Research Institute of Agriculture, breeders L.I.Dubrovskaya, I.A.Novoselova, P.A.Kovaleva, N.N. Platonova, T.I. Prokofiev and E.E. Zelenina worked on the creation of the variety. In 1989 the Dubrovinka apple tree was accepted for state variety testing and since 1997 it is recommended for cultivation in Buryatia. At present, variety trials are underway in the Krasnoyarsk Territory, Yakutia, the Trans-Baikal Territory and the Irkutsk Region. The Dubrovinka apple tree belongs to medium-sized varieties. The tree has a bush-like shape, its initially spherical medium-leafed crown becomes more and more spreading over the years.
