Apple-tree Akhtubinskoe belongs to the early winter varieties. Appeared at the Volgograd Experimental Station of the All-Russian Research Institute of Plant Production. N.I. Vavilov, thanks to the works of such breeders as V.V. Malychenko and L.N. Balandin, by sowing seeds Raneta Simirenko from free pollination. The apple variety Akhtubinskoye passed the State test and was recommended for cultivation on farm and household plots in the Astrakhan and Volgograd regions, as well as in the Republic of Kalmykia. This plant reproduces in specialized nurseries in the Volgograd region.

Apple trees of the Akhtubinskoye variety are of medium size and are considered fast growing. The crown of the plant has a round shape, which after a certain period of time acquires spreading, leafiness and medium thickening. The main stems of the tree are curved, of medium thickness and brownish in color.

The shoots of the Akhtubinskoe apple variety are elongated, thick and curved. They have a brownish-greenish, steel and brownish tint. There are a large number of lentils, round and large in size. The internodes are rather short.
The leaves of the Akhtubinskoe apple tree are isosceles, have an average width and size, most often of an elongated-oval shape, although there are also an elongated spherical shape. Such leaves are endowed with a green color, a wrinkled structure and a matte surface, they are convex, and also curved down the central vein. The upper part of the leaflet has a wide wedge-shaped shape, with an elongated tip, smoothly and moderately tapering, and also with a round base. The edges and leaves of this variety are even with slight waviness, large, single serrate. The petiole is of medium length, stained with weak anthocyanin only at the very base.
Features of the fruit
The fruits of the Akhtubinskoe apple tree most often grow large or medium in size. They are leveled, with weak ribbing and have a wide-conical elongated shape. The main shade of the fruit is quite similar to the Renet Simirenko variety, pale green. After harvesting, when lying down, these apples turn yellow-green in color. The inside of the fruit is creamy. It is very tender and juicy, endowed with a fine-grained structure and has a sweet taste with a slight sourness, quite pleasant, and also has a rich aroma. The fruits of this variety contain: dry matter up to 19 percent, sugars up to 12 percent, titratable acids up to 0.8 percent per wet weight, ascorbic acid up to 9 milligrams per 100 grams of product, the ratio of sugar to acid up to 15, P-active substances - flavonols 9 milligrams per 100 grams of product, the amount of phenolic compounds is 203 milligrams per 100 grams of product, catechins are 46 milligrams per 100 grams of product, pectins per wet weight are about 0.54 percent.
The fruits of the Akhtubinskoe apple tree ripen to be removed from the tree closer to the second half of October. After that, these apples can be stored until the first month of the new year inclusive. The variety has a high yield level, almost every year. This subspecies is endowed with a higher level of frost resistance compared to its parent, the Reneta Simirenko variety, which, in turn, can freeze considerably in the Volgograd region. The resistance to the dry period in the Akhtubinskoe apple variety is at an average level. The subspecies has good immunity to diseases such as powdery mildew, although in a rather wet season it can become infected with scab disease.
