We plant tomatoes
Tomatoes are a very tasty and healthy vegetable on our tables. It contains a huge number of useful properties, a variety of vitamins, especially a high content of vitamin E. Tomatoes are such a vegetable crop that is grown in seedlings. That is, they are first grown at home, and then transplanted into greenhouses or open ground. In order to avoid the death of a plant or a disease, tomatoes must be transplanted correctly and organized in such a way that the planting of tomatoes is successful.
You need to transplant several times. The first time they are transplanted from a common container into separate ones. The second time is transplanted from a small container to a larger one. The third time is transplanted into the soil.
There are several ways to transplant tomatoes, let's look at some of them.
Planting tomatoes and picking.
In order not to damage the root system of the plant before transplanting, the seedlings are well watered. After watering, the seedlings should be left for several hours. Next, the plant is removed from the container. The ends of the rootlets should be visible. For the purpose of further branching, the largest root is pinched.
After that, the plant is transplanted into a container with earth, densely filled. The plant is transplanted into the hole in such a way that the cotyledonous leaves are visible. The next day, the seedling needs to be watered and protected from bright light.
Tomato planting and transshipment.
In this case, the plant is not watered for a day or two. This is done so that the earth in the pot forms into a monolith. In this case, the seedling can be easily removed from the pot along with the earth. Before transplanting the plant, you must first pour water into the hole. After this, the transplant takes place.
Tomato planting begins in March. It is best to follow the recommendations of the lunar calendar, since planting is not considered favorable on all days, especially on the days of the new moon and full moon. If the seeds were planted in March, then the seedlings can be transplanted into the ground in the second half of May.
Transplanting is stressful for the plant, so diseases such as fusarium are possible. To cure this disease, a mixture of nettle and celandine, infused with water, will help.
Also another problem is the yellowing of the leaves. This may be due to the fact that tomatoes lack manganese, iron, magnesium, nitrogen, sulfur.
This ailment is often accompanied by the appearance of spots, drying and thickening. Another option for yellowed foliage is overexposure of seedlings in small containers. Roots in confined spaces can become entangled. They need time to recover.
For a quick recovery, frequent loosening of the soil is recommended, especially after watering, regulation of humidity and temperature, as well as fertilization with mineral salts by spraying.
After transplanting, according to all recommendations, the seedlings quickly get used to the soil and grow. If the plant becomes so tall that it begins to bend under its own weight, it must be tied up.
It is strictly forbidden to tie up tomatoes with wire or rigid ropes, they can harm the stem of the plant.
How to tie up tomatoes so as not to harm them? A wire can be pulled at the top of the greenhouse. Tie a loose loop of cut fabric strips under the lower leaves of the seedling. Pull this strip of fabric to the wire at the top of the greenhouse and tie it up. The plant will grow and wrap around the strip of fabric.
The greenhouse with seedlings must be ventilated. Leave it open in hot weather. It is advisable to close at night, especially if frost is predicted. If you do not follow these recommendations, the tomato can develop one of the most dangerous diseases, such as late blight.
To avoid this disease, you can prepare such a fertilizer. Dissolve ash (two kilograms) in boiling water (five liters). When the mixture cools down, water is added to it (five liters), one bottle of iodine and a little boric acid. Next, the mixture must be insisted for one day. After that, you can water: for one bush, one liter of water.
Like many plants, tomatoes should be watered well. To make them feel better, they need to be watered with warm water. There are several ways to water evenly. Here is one of them.
A plastic bottle is stuck with the neck down next to the bush. The bottom of the bottle is cut off. Then it is filled with water. The water is evenly distributed to nourish the roots of the plant.
I feed the tomatoes no earlier than, after two or three weeks, so as not to burn the fragile root system of the plant. Fertilize during this period with ammonium nitrate, potassium sulfide and phosphorus.
The next time they feed when the mass ripening of fruits begins. In this case, potassium sulfide and ammonium nitrate are well suited for fertilization.
It is not difficult to grow tomatoes, follow the recommendations and get a great harvest.
