We grow indoor tomatoes at home
Previously, about five hundred years ago, indoor tomatoes were considered an ornamental plant, and they were planted just for beauty. And the fruits of the tomatoes themselves were considered poisonous. Indeed, green, unripe tomatoes contain poison - corned beef. But ripe tomatoes are healthy and tasty, everyone knows that.
Now there are more than 20 thousand varieties of tomatoes. They are divided into three types: for open ground, for greenhouses and indoor. For growing a house on a windowsill, dwarf species are suitable, hanging (scientifically they are called ampelous) and decorative potted tomatoes. The most common milking at home are Cherry and cocktail tomatoes. They are completely different in color, red, yellow and even black and green. To grow them on the windowsill, indoor tomatoes must be self-pollinated, and do not require pinching. They should also be small in size, and resistant to dry air. In order for indoor tomatoes to give a lot of harvest, a certain volume of the pot and the land in it is needed. The hanging branch with the harvest looks like a bunch of grapes.
All potted varieties are perennial, they can yield up to five years, but the largest number will be in the first two years. The most successful varieties for the house that bear fruit all year round are: Florida petite, Minibell, Tiny Tim, Zhemchuzhinka, Bonsai, Angelica, Balcony miracle, Pinocchio and Cherie. But Cherie can also grow outdoors. All of them are up to 30 cm high, red in color, early maturing, bearing many fruits. If you sow seedlings in mid-August, then you will get a harvest in time for the new year. And having sown ripe tomatoes in mid-January will delight you until May. Seedlings need to be watered moderately daily, the main thing is not to overflow, otherwise the plants will disappear.
Ampel varieties can be planted in hanging pots, and they will hang beautifully from the windowsill.
The seeds must first be placed in a wet cloth before they hatch. After pecking, they must be sown in a small container to a depth of no more than one cm. The soil in it must be moist. Then you need to cover it with a film and put it in a warm place, every day spraying the ground from a spray bottle until the seedlings emerge. After the seedlings have sprouted, remove the film and put the container on the window, if there is not enough light, then you can put additional lamps for lighting. When the seedlings grow to 5-7 cm and two or three leaves appear, it must be planted in separate pots. It is advisable to plant three seedlings in one pot for 4-5 liters, put on a windowsill. And after a couple of weeks, leave one of the strongest plants, the other two just pull out. Fertilizer needs to be applied to the soil, and then it is advisable to apply top dressing every 10-12 days. It is advisable to loosen the ground at least twice a week. When the seedling grows up and begins to bloom, you need to substitute supports so that it does not break under its own weight when the fruits appear. At a time when the seedling will bloom, you need to shake the plant several times a day, or hold it over the bushes with anything soft, so that the effect of pollination is better. And your plant will bear fruit well, and the seeds can be collected by yourself, you just need to choose the tomato you like, let it ripen well first on the bush. Then put in the sun until fully ripe. Select seeds from it, rinse them in warm water until they are clean, then dry. The germination capacity of which does not disappear for up to five years.
