Cherry Tilda: variety description and characteristics
The Dubovsky stronghold of the NV Research Institute of Agriculture became the place for breeding this cherry variety. RV Korneev and LK Zhukova became co-authors. The breeding was carried out by sowing seed material of the cherry variety Zhukovskaya with free pollination. Cherry Tilda was accepted for state tests in 1995.
The size of an adult tree of the Tilda cherry variety is relatively small, upon reaching the 10th age and only on the rootstocks of the seedlings of the variety Rastunya the tree reaches a height of 170 centimeters and forms a crown up to 270 centimeters in diameter. Formation of the crown, wide roundness, but rather sparse-stemmed, especially thickening with branches and deciduous cover was not observed in practice. The covering of the main branches is a little rough to the touch, there is considerable curvature, cherry grayish color and an almost right angle when growing from the trunk of the tree. Shoots of medium size, smooth cover, brown with a gray tinge in color, pubescence is completely absent.
Large buds in the Tilda cherry variety have conical, slightly rounded shapes, brown and without the slightest pubescence. The placement of buds relative to the main shoots occurs at an acute angle of 45 degrees. In the process of fruiting, mainly branches of bouquet formation are involved.
The leaf plates are ovoid, slightly elongated, in shape, the color of the leaves is predominantly green. Slight waviness along the edge of the leaves, framing each leaf with a slight crenate serration. A small but sufficient concavity of the leaf plates, a slight bend occurs to the bottom, a rounded shape at the base of the leaves. A narrowing in the shape of a spout appears to the top of the leaves. The average values, that is, the length and thickness, of the leaf petioles are noted. Inflorescences are white, medium-sized, bell-shaped. Each fruit bud forms up to 5 small flowers, in some cases the number of flowers does not exceed 3 pieces.
Features of the variety
Mid-early ripening of Tilda cherries, the main fruiting occurs in the last days of June. The average weight of the fruit, up to 4 grams, the formation of round fruits and dark, red color of berries. There is a small dimple at the top of each berry. There is a depression of wide size and average depth on the peduncle. The stalk itself has an average thickness and length.
The red-colored flesh of the Tilda cherry variety has a sweet, clearly sour taste, but the general taste characteristics have a good rating on the scale. Fruit juice is strongly colored. Rounded shape and medium size berry stone. The variety has a universal purpose: it is perfectly used for fresh consumption, as well as for making jams, various compotes and for culinary purposes. The chemical composition of the fruits: dry matter in an amount of 12.6%, 1.19% are sugars, 0.74 such a content is acids, the content of ascorbic acid is up to 13.17 mg for every 100 grams of product.
Excellent resistance of the Tilda cherry variety to cold winter conditions, during the state variety tests, practically no damage to the ground parts of trees was observed during freezing, the only thing is that a small part of the fruit buds may be damaged. Also, excellent immunity to various diseases and parasitic pests is noted. The Tilda cherry variety belongs to a self-fertile crop.With industrial cultivation, the following harvest indicators were established when feeding 5 m * 2 m, and the average age of trees from 8 to 13 years: 67.8 centners of yield from each hectare of plantations.
