Cherry Podbelskaya was obtained thanks to the work of the German breeding specialist K. Koch at the end of the nineteenth century from combining such varieties of cherries as "Griot Ostheim" and "lot cherry". This cherry variety has been designated for cultivation in certain areas since 1947. Cherry variety Podbelskaya was added to the state register for the North Caucasus region.

The flowers develop in three to four specimens in each inflorescence, large, approximately thirty-two millimeters, the shape resembles a saucer, the petals are in the form of a regular circle with slight corrugation, have inherent denticles near the base on each side and the upper part with the shape of a regular circle, does not occur pronounced notch. The stigma of the pistil is located in the same place as the anthers. The shape of the cup resembles a glass, the color is anthocyanin. The flower stem is twenty to twenty-five millimeters in size, about two millimeters thick.
