Features of Cherry Meteor
The grafted trees of the Meteor cherry variety begin to bear fruit from the second or third year after planting. The variety blooms late, ripens medium late. Partially self-fertile, good yields are achieved with the help of Meteor cherry pollinators - Northstar andOblachinskaya". The yield indicator is worthy: in the climate of Krasnodar, from the ninth year after planting, the average yield reaches sixteen kg of berries from one cherry, the maximum is twenty kg. The variety is resistant to low temperature conditions: when freezing at a temperature of minus thirty-two degrees, seventy-five percent of unharmed generative buds remain, at minus forty - thirty-seven percent. The resistance of Meteor cherry to drought and heat is average. It is immune to diseases such as clotterosporosis, coccomycosis, these diseases affect a tree up to two and a half to three points.
Although the resistance of the Meteor cherry variety to low temperature conditions is good, but the variety is unreliable in the northern climate, therefore it is recommended for cultivation only in the south and in the Central Black Earth Region.
Cherry Meteor: reviews of gardeners
- Anastasia Viktorovna, Krasnodar Territory: “I like the Meteor cherry variety very much to my taste, but the appearance, it seems to me, is not very attractive. The berries are light in color, and the juice is completely colorless. This somewhat lowers the commercial properties of the berries ”.
- Katerina Vladimirovna, Chelyabinsk region: “I like Meteor cherry both in terms of taste and as a crop for growing. The yield is always very decent, and the tree itself is resistant to low temperature conditions. Also, the Meteor cherry variety is suitable for mechanized fruit harvesting, which facilitates the harvesting process. "
