Cherry Lyubskaya
Content:
Cherry Lyubskaya was bred by free pollination in 2002 and registered with a recommendation for cultivation in the Ural region. Scientists from the South Ural Institute became the author of the variety.
Cherry Lyubskaya - characteristic
The plant begins to bloom in late May. Fruits can be harvested already in the middle of summer, since the tree has early fruiting.
The culture begins to bear fruit 3 years after planting. The tree has a lifespan of 20 years. The variety is considered to be partially self-fertile, so pollinators are not required for it.
The advantages of the variety also include abundant fruiting: one tree can bring 5 kg of berries. In addition, gardeners note the high resistance to frost, both of the tree itself and of the generative buds. Only flowers to returnable spring frosts can be vulnerable here. The crop also has good resistance to drought, heat and common diseases.
Cherry Lyubskaya - description
The tree has little vigor and reaches no more than 2 m in height. The crown here has the shape of a ball with the presence of a large number of leaves of medium thickening. The shade of the bark of the shoots is gray with a slight silvery coating.
The buds are of medium length and extend from the shoot at an acute angle. The leaf plates are narrow, oval-shaped. Their length reaches almost 11 cm, and their width is 4.5 cm. There is a sharp point at the top of the leaf, as well as a serrated edge. The surface of the sheet plate is glossy without the presence of villi. The veins are not very prominent. Medium yellow glands are located on the leaf. Each leaf plate is attached with a 17 cm petiole. Lanceolate stipules can also be observed here.
Speaking of flowers, here the inflorescence is assembled from 5 pieces of rather large flowers, the diameter of which is more than 3 cm. The corolla resembles the shape of a saucer, the petals practically grow together. The shade of the flowers is white, while the bifurcated top is characteristic of the petals. The shape of the leaves is ovoid, widened at the top. The level of the pistil is above the level of the stamens. At the same time, the plant has a mixed type of fruiting, and as a result, the fruits are formed, both on last year's and on annual growths.
Cherry Lyubskaya: features of the variety and berries
The fruits are large enough here, about 5 grams each. Moreover, they have a rounded shape. A pit and a wide funnel are visible at the top. A soft abdominal suture can also be observed. The shade of the fruit here is pronounced dark red. The pulp has the same shade and a large amount of dark pink juice. Inside each fruit there is an oval bone, which is 5% of the weight of the fruit, and has a light shade.
Under the condition of full ripening, the bone is quite simply separated from the pulp. Experts evaluate the external qualities of the fruit according to the highest mark, while the taste of the fruit also does not reach the maximum score by only 0.1 points.
Harvesting is easy, since the stalk is simply separated from the fruit, leaving a dry separation, so the fruit can be harvested either manually or mechanically. The berries do not crack at the same time. The crop is consumed both fresh and used for the preparation of various preparations. The fruits contain a large amount of dry matter, sucrose, and ascorbic acid.
Conclusion
Cherry Lyubskaya is an excellent option for growing, since it has the earliest ripening dates of all varieties grown in the Urals, excellent external and taste qualities of fruits, good resistance to frost and common diseases. In addition, this culture does not require crown formation and grows independently.
