Cherry Kent or "Kentish Red" ("Early Richmond") is an old variety from England, widely distributed in the west of the European territory, in domestic regions it is known to a small extent. In terms of morphological and biological structure, it is a hybrid of cherry and sweet cherry. The Kent cherry variety entered the state register in 1947, it is recommended for cultivation in the Central Black Earth Region and the Lower Volga region.

Cherry Kent is considered a tree of strong growth, at a young age the crown is in the form of a pyramid, at 10 years old it reaches four meters in height, later it becomes round. The main branches rise, grow from the trunk at an angle of forty-five to sixty degrees, their coloring is dark brown with a gray tone. Shoots in the form of an arc, slightly bend, gray-brown color. The leaves of Kent cherry are more medium-sized or large (one hundred and six by forty-eight mm), in the form of an oval, dark green color, matte, slightly folded longitudinally to the central vein, the edges are even, have small notches, the apex is slightly pointed, the base is wide, in the form wedge, the petiole is eighteen to twenty-five mm long, two mm thick, the glands are greenish-yellow in color, one or two are located on the petioles at the base of the leaf plate, the stipules are small, in the form of an awl, fall off. The inflorescence of the Kent cherry variety contains two to four flowers, twenty six to twenty eight mm in size, in the form of saucers, the petals are nine by seven mm, wide, in the form of an oval, the top bifurcates, the petals go behind each other. The pistil is six mm, the stigma is below the anthers, the stamens reach seven to ten mm, the cup is in the form of a glass, green coloration, with anthocyanin on the side illuminated by the sun, the flower stem grows to twenty three to thirty two mm. The tree bears fruit in a mixed manner, for the most part the fruits are formed on bouquet branches.

Flowering and ripening early, fruit ripening occurs twenty days earlier than the berries of the cherry variety "Lyubskaya". The variety is distinguished by partial self-fertility, the best helpers for pollination: “Vladimirskaya" and "Griot Ostheim".The yield indicator is average, at eight to ten years the tree gives fifteen to eighteen kg, in some good seasons, when the cherry is already fully bearing fruit, the productivity is thirty to forty kg. The Kent cherry is highly resistant to the winter season; in severe frosts (minus twenty-seven degrees), shoots can freeze by 1.4 points, generative buds - up to thirty percent. The immunity to coccomycosis is average, in some years the disease can affect the variety up to four points.
