Gradska cherry is a crop that can grow in completely different climatic conditions. It was bred by domestic breeders, crossing other popular varieties of cherries. We worked on the breeding of the Gradskaya cherry variety in the South Ural Research Institute. The variety was included in the state register in 2002. As you may have guessed, it is recommended to grow this crop in the Ural regions.

The bushes of the Gradskaya cherry variety are usually low, a little more than 2 m.The stamp is also small, about 15 cm.If we talk about the crown, it has a rounded shape, the shoots are compactly located, the tips of the branches go to the top, the plant is well leafy, the shoots are not very thick. The color of the bark is brown, rather smooth, a few shoots are drooping, silvery.

The leaves of the Gradskaya ordinary cherry variety are slightly elongated, slightly deflected in relation to the shoot. The foliage of the plant is small, the length of the leaf reaches several centimeters, and the width is about 2 cm. The leaves are elongated in shape, obovate, pointed, green in color. Descent is observed on the petioles. The tops of the leaf plates are sharp, at the base they are narrowly wedge-shaped, serrated along the edges.

If we talk about the surface of the Gradskaya cherry leaf plate, then it is quite smooth and shiny. Lowering is noticeable from below, but small. The leaf plates resemble a boat, there are no glands. The petioles of plants are short, up to 2 cm. There are no stipules at all. No more than 5 flowers are formed on each inflorescence; they are medium in diameter, similar to a saucer.

The flower petals of the Gradskaya cherry always touch each other, the flowers are slightly corrugated, snow-white in color. The petals are oval, rounded tops. The pistil is usually higher than the stamens, there is usually no drooping on the ovary. In shape, they resemble not only saucers, but also a cup, bells. There is no serration at the edges of the petals, the pedicels are small in length, usually no more than 2 cm. Cherry bears fruit quite abundantly. It does not need careful care. Gradskaya cherry fruits are formed on both annual and perennial shoots. Cherries form best on biennial branches.

Cherries of the Gradskaya variety are quite small, the weight of one fruit is not more than 3 g. The cherry shape is broadly cordate, the tops of the fruits are slightly pointed, and the funnels are medium. The fruit is red in color, the flesh inside is dense, juicy, pink. The peduncles, as we have already noted, are short, not very thick. The seeds of Gradskaya cherries are round, small, usually they are easily separated from the cherries, so wonderful jams can be made from the fruits, and it is always easy to process berries. Gradskaya cherry begins to bloom by the end of May, but it all depends on climatic conditions.

In appearance, the Gradskaya cherry varieties are more than attractive, as we have already noted, their flesh is very juicy. The cherries are slightly sour-sweet in taste, and the fruits are highly rated for their tasting qualities. Cherries come off the stalks always well, and they can be harvested in a mechanized way. The product is easily transported over long distances, cherries do not deteriorate for a long time. Plus, it's worth noting that they are extremely useful. Cherries contain dry substances, sugars, free acids.

The Gradskaya cherry variety is considered universal; you can make wonderful juice, compote or jam from the fruit. Cherries ripen by the end of July, and very amicably. You can collect up to 8 kg of ripe fruits from one bush.Cherries usually begin bearing fruit at the age of two, so you can pick the first cherry early. Bushes usually actively yield up to the 20th anniversary, in the future, the plants will need to be removed from the site.

Cherry Gradskaya is also considered frost-resistant, flower buds are not afraid of short-term frosts, even in spring. This culture is also considered to be drought-resistant, so it will not be necessary to water the plants very intensively. But the heat resistance of this culture is not very high. Plants are not afraid of many diseases, as well as pests, since the immunity of cherries is high.

The yield of Gradskaya cherry is always good, besides, the variety is also self-fruitful, it is grown not only in personal plots, but also in large farm gardens. The trees are always very beautiful and slender, the crown of nearby bushes usually does not close, with good care, collect more than 8 kg of berries from one plant. Up to 12 tons of cherries are harvested from one hectare. The fruit also tastes excellent, which is why these cherries are often sold on the market.
