Cherry Demeter: photo of the variety
Demeter cherry can reach 2.5 meters in height, it is considered a variety that has an intensive growth, therefore, the height is slightly higher than that of other varieties. The foliage forms into a wide crown resembling an elongated horizontal oval. The branches are adjacent to each other, so you should spend a lot of time pruning them for the plant to function well. Each branch is slightly raised and directed upwards. The foliage density of the Demeter cherry tree is high, and the shoots have a slight bloom of gray. The buds are located on branches, they are small and resemble a cone, slightly deviate from the shoots. The leaves are large, in the shape of an oval, with one end slightly pointed. The leaves differ in color, this is due to the fact that the color changes throughout life. At a young age, the leaves are a light shade of green, and after 3-4 years they become deeper green. With the onset of autumn, the foliage of the Demeter cherry blossoms turns yellow, since anthocyanin is present in the leaves. The base of the leaf is sharp, and the edges with large waves. The sheet has two sides, one of them is glossy and smooth, and the other has a slight roughness. The petioles are medium in size, but very strongly colored.
During the flowering period, the Demeter cherry tree is all strewn with flowers, they are collected in several pieces in one inflorescence. The flowers are small in size, usually pink-white in color. The petals are at a great distance from each other and lie freely. Each flower is shaped like a glass. There are pistils inside the flowers, they are long, like the stamens. Instead of flowers, after a while, fruits appear.
Characteristics of the fruits.
The berries of the Demeter cherry variety are very beautiful and attractive in appearance, the size of the cherry is larger than average, only one berry weighs about 8 grams. Sometimes there are berries of 9-11 grams, this size is achieved only with proper tree care and the introduction of the necessary nutrients into the soil. The top of the berries is round and has no pits. The color of the fruit is burgundy, the skin of the fruit is dense with a slight thickening. Inside the Demeter cherry there is a pulp filled with a huge amount of fibers, so it feels very dense, but juicy, despite this. The stalks of each berry are small, they quickly separate from the skin of the berries. The fruits of this variety have 11% natural sugar, 1% acids, 13% vitamin C, 20% dry matter.
For taste, experts rate the Demeter cherry variety at 9.5 points out of 10 points, this is a high rating for a cherry.
