Cherry Crimson - description and characteristics
The variety belongs to the average ripening period, so it will be possible to harvest in early July. This variety is planted in different regions as it can grow in cold and warm climates. In cold winters or temperature drops, the plant feels comfortable and this does not affect it in any way.
The gardener will be able to harvest the first crop three years after planting. Crimson belongs to the early-growing varieties. At the same time, if another cherry variety is planted next to Bagryana, then the yield can grow by 20-40%, since all unfertilized flowers during the flowering period will be pollinated by another variety. Only when choosing a neighbor should one take into account the time when this or that variety blooms. These periods must be the same for both varieties.
Description of the variety.
The tree of the species can grow up to 170 centimeters tall, forming a round crown. The foliage is densely packed, but there are short distances, but despite this, Scarlet needs regular pruning, which will ensure good growth and development of the tree. The leaf has an interesting green-orange color, while one of the sides is glossy, and the other is matte with small fibers. The leaves are large compared to other cherries. On the edges of the leaves are small denticles, which are sharply pointed towards the end.
Fruiting occurs only on annual shoots and branches.
Characteristics of berries.
The berries grow large, about 5.5 grams. Sometimes there are berries of 6-7 grams, this result is achieved only with high-quality and proper care of the tree. The peel of the berry is dense and of medium thickness, this allows you to completely keep the pulp safe. It is red and burgundy. Inside the berry there is a pulp, it is juicy, but a little watery, also the pulp has a small amount of fibers, has an average density. The taste is sweet and accompanied by a pleasant light aroma. The stone is effortlessly separated from the fetus.
The amount of the crop.
The amount of harvest directly depends on the gardener's attitude to the tree. With the necessary care, the average yield is about 8 kilograms per tree. Cherry fruiting is regular, so the gardener does not need to worry about lean years.
The shelf life of berries is short, about 13-15 days in a cold room or refrigerator. Cherries can be eaten not only fresh, they can be frozen, used in baked goods, made jams, preserves, juices or compotes. You can also use cherries to create cherry wine or liqueurs.

Cherry Crimson cultivation and care
This variety is grown like any other cherry. Before planting, you need to take care of good lighting, since Crimson belongs to the type that prefers a large amount of sunlight, then the place of growth should be in a sunny area. The soil should be drained and loosened to provide lightness and oxygen supply. Loamy and non-acidic soil is perfect for growing. You also need to take care of the planting season. It can be autumn time or spring time. This choice depends only on the grower.
Top dressing.
In the process of planting, a complex fertilizer is added to the soil, which will nourish the tree for a whole year. Next year, you will have to add more top dressing. The type of feeding will depend on the stage the tree is in. When forming buds or fruits, it is recommended to make fertilizing based on nitrogen or phosphorus. A complex fertilizer is also suitable, which saturates the root system of the plant with all the necessary microelements.
Preparing for the winter period.
At the end of autumn, when the first frosts begin, you need to take care of the cherries. If the winters are cold and the temperature reaches -28 degrees, then it is recommended to cover the tree. For shelter, you can use a thick layer of earth or peat, which will be laid around the post. Spruce branches can be laid on top of the peat.
Trimming.
Due to the fact that the crown is dense, it is necessary to carry out regular pruning. During pruning, all dry, broken branches must be removed. It is also recommended to get rid of sick and weak shoots and tree parts.
Pruning is necessary before the beginning of winter and also in the beginning of spring.
Note: After pruning, the cut must be treated with garden pitch or garden resin.
Preventive work
Since Bagryanaya belongs to varieties that are vulnerable and can get sick with various diseases, it is recommended to carry out preventive measures so as not to suffer in the future with the treatment of the tree. To protect the plant from fungal diseases, it is necessary to process it with Bordeaux liquid. This treatment is carried out after the leaves bloom. For the second processing, it is best to use Skor, following the instructions. The final treatment is also carried out with Bordeaux liquid only in a lower concentration.
For prevention, you can use folk remedies. For example, so that pests do not attack a tree, it is treated with an infusion of onions and garlic with a small addition of grated laundry soap. This solution does not harm the tree, but protects it from pests.
