What types of birches do you know?

Some summer residents who have plots with a large territory often think about planting trees that can play a very different role - for example, help shade other crops, protect them from strong winds from the north. And in principle, the presence of trees is an important part of the design of a garden plot, where only shrubs and low plantings will look inharmonious. Consider the types of birch - perhaps the most popular and widespread tree in our country, to which summer residents pay their attention in the selection process.
Types of birch: fluffy birch (white).
Types of fluffy birch, which is also called white, is a real symbol of the Russian spirit, which is familiar to everyone. An openwork, presentable appearance is a tree used for decorative purposes to decorate not only plots, but also city parks, arboretums, and so on.
It is a fairly unpretentious tree, the main advantage of which is rapid and intensive growth, as well as increased endurance to external factors.
The height of the white birch is also impressive - some specimens are capable of reaching 20 winds, have an oblong crown, in turn, consisting of spreading and outstretched branches, which, as a rule, do not droop over time.
If you plant several seedlings of this type of birch in one planting hole at once, then after 2 or 3 years they will develop and grow into a kind of bouquet, which can become the main decoration of your site.
Also, do not forget that wood helps to purify the air and improve its properties - another argument in favor of growing.
The flowering process of this type of birch begins closer to May, and it begins to bear fruit in winter. Summer residents should remember that white birch is demanding on more moist soils.
Types of birch: wilted
This type of birch is also tall - on average, the trees grow up to 18 or 20 meters in height. They have branches hanging down to the ground, for which the birch got its name.
The leaves are light green in color, give off shine, the shape is close to nettle leaves, in the fall the leaves acquire a bright yellow tint. The tree is relatively unpretentious and does not make high demands on the soil, it is resistant to low temperatures and drought.
This type of birch is light-loving, therefore, when planting, it is necessary to take into account the level of shading and the uniform distribution of sunlight throughout the day. The trunk of a drooping birch is smooth.
According to the varieties of decorative forms, drooping birch can be divided into weeping, which has rather long shoots hanging down to the ground itself; with a shape resembling a pyramid, the branches of which differ in a vertical direction, and the trunk itself has a black color at the base.
Such types of birch in a composition with conifers look quite harmonious from the outside - for a note to summer residents-designers. Planting this species near water bodies is also encouraged.
Cherry birch
Unusual decorative properties that persist throughout the year are what distinguishes the cherry birch from all the other listed species. In the spring season, she has an abundance of hanging stamen earrings of sufficient length.
Fertile catkins, which are already summer, are often large in size and can stay on branches until spring, enduring severe winter frosts.
Beautiful bouquets can be made right in winter if you carefully cut off several of these branches with earrings without damaging them.
Daurian birches.
This type of birch is characterized by slow and painstaking growth - the tree does not like to rush and only by the age of 30-40 can reach a height of only 5 meters. Nevertheless, Daurian birch impresses with its presentable appearance, so it is not bypassed.
Older trees are distinguished by dark brown or dark gray bark shades, while young specimens can show off their bark, shimmering pink or red.
The originality of this birch is that in the area of the trunk, the birch bark cracks up and down, thus, the pieces hang, as if contributing to the formation of a curly trunk.
This birch is quite demanding on the level of soil fertility, not suitable for its long-term cultivation of lowlands and hollows, where a large amount of cold air accumulates.
Due to the preservation of the color of the bark and rather beautiful catkins, this tree is quite decorative in winter and stands out against the main background.
Dahurian birch is fed, first of all, in the spring - it is necessary to add compost or humus under the tree with the addition of nitrogen fertilizer of urea.
Closer to autumn, it is also allowed to add humus or compost, as well as enrich the plant with mineral fertilizers, for example, nitrophos.
During the growing season, the tree of this type of birch is recommended to be sprayed with a growth stimulant. Birch propagates by seeds, root shoots or by means of layering.
If you really want to admire this type of birch in full, it is recommended to plant several pieces at once - 2 or 3, in order to see them in all their glory after a long time.
