Spring garden work: how to prepare the site for the summer

It is necessary to work with the soil at the correct moisture content, and it is advisable to water it only after loosening the surface layer. Regular loosening is important for both weed control and oxygenation of the soil. It also avoids unnecessary evaporation. Watering during this period should shut off water intake, allowing the plants to pump nutrients from the soil. Therefore, it is necessary to water very carefully: 8 - 10 liters of water per square meter. The temperature of the water for irrigation is also important, it should be warm.
May is the nesting season for many birds, so we need to check again how the nests are protected from possible access by cats and take care of the nesting world. It is better not to show the nests to anyone.
Throughout the warm season, you have to regularly fight with voles and other rodents. Place mouse traps to avoid endangering other animals.

Fruit tree care

Since the soil around the trees planted last year has already hardened, you can tie them to poles. Remove the trees that are not well established from the soil and cut off the roots. Then put the seedling in water for a day or two, then plant it again. It is necessary to compact the soil and water the trees thoroughly.
On fruit trees, cut the green leaves to remove excess upright shoots. All old trees need to be tested for sprouts. If there are dead branches, they must be removed immediately so that they do not become a source of infection. Immediately after flowering, at the end of the month, trees are watered and fertilized with saltpeter or combined fertilizers. Excess debris of fallen fruit is prevented by regular cleaning.

Berry and flower care

At this time, strawberries regularly bloom and tendril. It needs to be watered thoroughly after flowering. Branches should be removed if they are not planned to be used to multiply fertile plants.
Spring garden work in the country in this case consists in the fact that summer flowers are planted in the first half of the month. In the second half of the month, tomatoes are planted at an angle and deeper so that the plants take root. Already after planting or within a couple of days after it, we cut out the lateral shoots in the leaf axils. Chipping will allow for better plant management and accelerate fruit ripening.
Regular mowing and immediate removal of the cut from the lawn is very beneficial. After mowing, it is advisable to fertilize and water the lawn.
In the second half of May, it is best to plant even more delicate varieties of colorful water lilies in garden ponds.
