Tulips - flowers in the garden to decorate the site.
There are a great many varieties of tulips. Every gardener will find a variety to his liking, there are both large flowers in the garden on a high strong leg, and dwarf, delicate varieties.
Almost all varieties of tulips are not whimsical, you do not need to dig out their bulbs in the fall, and plant them again in the spring, tulips winter well in the open field. Most of these plants are undersized, differ in a variety of colors.
The most popular tulip variety in Russia is Kaufman tulips... This variety is distinguished by early flowering, already at the end of April they are gaining color and forming buds.
When opened, the flower looks like an asterisk. The buds are either monochromatic or marbled. The stems of a tulip of this variety are not large 20-25 centimeters, after the end of flowering, the leaves of the Kaufman tulip remain decorative for a long time, since they have an unusual color.
The second most popular variety in Russia is Greig's tulips. This variety has not tall stems about 35 cm in length. They have large red or orange flowers. Bloom in late April or early May.
Regal peonies.
The neighbor had an amazing flower bed with delicious peonies for the whole of June. And on my site, the peonies did not want not only to bloom, but also to be accepted. She asked me to share a secret, and the next year, the same beauties were pleasing to the eye on my site.
The best way to reproduce peonies is to divide the rhizome, it is best to start reproduction in mid-August, so that the plants get stronger and have time to prepare for the winter cold. For planting material, it is best to take plants from 4 to 6 years old, brilliant green should be medium in size, but not less than 7 cm in diameter. Have five eyes and cut roots intact.
The prepared soil for planting peonies should be sprinkled with crushed coal or chalk. In order for the peonies to begin well, it is necessary to treat the brilliant green with a solution of copper sulfate. It is best to plant peonies in an open area protected from drafts.
To plant 1 bush, you need to dig a hole meter by meter, fill it with a mixture of compost and sand for better rooting, you need to add a liter can of wood ash, then the primus peonies will delight you with their beauty the next year.
Queen rose.
Roses have always been a decoration of my garden. Once she showed her wards to a colleague and she began to ask to share the secret, the cultivation of the same beauties.
Roses are by nature very moody and reproduce only by cuttings. I cut small cuttings 10 days after the rose has faded. I leave three buds on each cuttings; I make the lower cut right under the bud. The upper one is 2 cm higher, the lower leaves are cut off, the upper ones are shortened.
I dip the tips of the slices into a root formation simulator (this procedure is mandatory, otherwise the cuttings will not give roots). I usually root cuttings of a rose in plastic cups. I pour fertile soil into them, and on top there is not necessarily a large layer of sand. Roses need to be provided with very good humidity and a warm, pleasant environment; for this, the containers need to be covered with plastic bottles cut from the bottom.
Rooting roses is best planted in a greenhouse, positioning them so that direct sunlight does not fall on the cuttings that are not yet strong.
The flowers in the garden are gladioli.
Perhaps the most real king of flowers is the gladiolus. The gladiolus has a very rich history.Personally, I love gladioli because of its variety of colors and its greatness. And in order to grow beautiful flowers with long and strong peduncles, I have several secrets that I will share with you.
Usually a month before planting, this time comes in early April, I take the bulbs out of the refrigerator and clean them well of scales. If there are any damage or cracks on the corms, then I cut out the affected area with a sharp knife.
I must fold the healthy tissues and the place of the cut with brilliant green in order to disinfect it. I spread the bulbs in one layer with the sprouts up, in a box and leave them at room temperature until the sprout appears.
I usually start planting bulbs in early May in a very sunny place. Be sure to add one tablespoon of urea or wood ash to the soil. I dig everything thoroughly and tamp the rake with the back side.
Before planting, the bulbs are soaked in a fungicide solution for half an hour, then I dry well and plant them at a distance of about 30 centimeters from each other.
If the bulbs are very large, I increase the distances by 5 - 7 cm.The planting depth should be at least 10-15 cm. Gladioli are very fond of water, but do not allow stagnation of water in the garden, you also need to loosen the soil very well, constantly weed the beds with flowers, since weeds can become a source of fungal diseases for gladiolus.
You need to feed gladioli three times. When two or three leaves grow, I water them with a urea solution. The second feeding should be done when the peduncle appears. The third feeding after the flowering of gladioli so that the bulbs are better stored in winter.
The bulbs should be dug up for the winter. I do this at the end of September in dry weather. All stems should be cut off and only a few centimeters left before the bulb begins. Dry well for about a month. Place everything in a cloth bag and store the refrigerator in the vegetable fruit drawer.
