TOP 3 Frequently Asked Questions About Fertilizer Wells
Content:
Once upon a time, Soviet gardeners tried to fertilize their garden crops as generously and as much as possible. But time is passing, and today not many people, in particular pensioners, simply cannot afford it. After all, buying a lot of fertilizers can result in a rather large amount. Fertilizer holes will come to the rescue. How? Read on!
How to prepare fertilizer wells?
To avoid overuse of fertilizers, and to cut down on their costs, many gardeners use fertilizer holes. Thus, fertilizer is consumed less, which means that you can save a certain part of your money. Let's look at the example of tomatoes, how and how such holes can be made. Before planting tomatoes, you will need to prepare the garden bed. The first thing that needs to be done is to prepare the ground in this bed. It should be homogeneous, without any lumps, stones, root residues. This uniformity can be achieved by repeatedly working with the rake. Before planting, the land also needs to be well fertilized.
What fertilizers should be used?
1. Superphosphate. It is necessary for the development of the root system. One tablespoon of simple or 1 teaspoon of double superphosphate must be added to the well.
2. Potassium sulfate. Potassium contributes to the normal process of photosynthesis and metabolic processes in the plant, and sulfur will promote the synthesis of proteins, which will bring you many fruits in the future. You need to add one tablespoon to the hole.
3. Magnesium sulfate. If you grow large-fruited or greenhouse varieties, then you just need this fertilizer. Because without magnesium, you cannot produce chlorophyll. 4. Dolomite flour. It is also a source of magnesium. But its difference is that it is absorbed more slowly and is enough for the entire summer season. You need to add no more than a handful of powder to the hole. If you can't get your hands on dolomite flour, you can substitute wood ash for it. It should be added to each well in the amount of no more than half a glass.
4. You can also use 1/3 teaspoon calcium nitrate per well. If funds allow you, then in gardening stores they sell various mixtures specifically for tomatoes. They cost a little more than making your own fertilizer. The following mixtures can be distinguished: "Zdraven", "Multifor", "Agrocola". Before adding these mixtures, be sure to read the instructions for use carefully.
How to apply any fertilizer?
Fertilizer is added to the hole and must be thoroughly mixed with the soil. Then it is necessary to pour in at least half a liter of water, while adding "Fitosporin-M" to the water and make the so-called "talker". It is in it that it is recommended to plant tomatoes. After you fill the hole with soil, you need to remove the leaves that touch the ground (if any) and water the plant so that the water fills all the voids in the soil. Then you do not need to water the tomatoes for 10 days. This will be a stimulating factor for the development of a strong root system. The fertilizers that we have considered will be quite enough for tomatoes at their first stage of development. Then, as it grows, you can add groundbait to get a good crop of tomatoes.
