The subtleties of planting seedlings
Having properly prepared the site for cultivation, the summer resident is faced with the question of the technology of planting plants and how the planting of seedlings should be carried out correctly. How exactly do you do this? What kind of agricultural technique should be followed so that crops will necessarily take root and feel comfortable in a given area?
Let's try to understand, dispel common doubts and questions.
Often, seedlings are used for growing many crops - plants of a young age, which are a precursor to a full-fledged culture, which takes a certain amount of time to fully develop.
Certain requirements are imposed on the handling of seedlings and their acquisition - as a rule, at the initial stage, they should not have leaves, any mechanical damage that may threaten the life of the plant in the future, and a benign root lobe should also be present. It is these external signs that should be guided when you purchase a seedling in a store.
Remember the basic rules related to the acquisition and, accordingly, planting seedlings in the garden.
By adhering to each of them, you can be sure that in the process you should not have unforeseen problems and circumstances that you would not know how to resolve.
So, first of all, seedlings should be purchased in specialized stores, nurseries that know their business and are directly involved in their cultivation. The roots of the seedlings should not be allowed to bare in the air, as they dry out rapidly in such conditions.
In order to avoid this, the seedlings must be placed in a container filled with water in advance, on average 2 days before planting. Growth stimulants may be used in moderation so as not to harm the developing plant.
The branches of the seedling that have broken off due to careless handling must be cut off, since residual damage can also negatively affect the seedling during the growth process. The same applies to mechanically damaged roots - they must be cut down to healthy tissues, without leaving even the slightest traces of damage.
The roots should be evenly and freely distributed in the hole prepared in advance for planting, in no case do not allow constraint, entanglement, twisting and tightening of the roots - otherwise, the system may begin to develop improperly and the plant will eventually die.
In the process of backfilling with earth, the formation of voids in the gap between the roots and the soil should not be allowed, since in the process excess moisture can accumulate there, and the level of plant stability in the ground will also be disturbed. To avoid this, the soil should be well compacted. Do not cover the root collar with earth, it should be open.
In the process of compaction and leveling of the soil, care should be taken, as with careless handling there is a risk of breaking the roots, which can lead to sad consequences.
For tying seedlings, it is necessary to use only a sufficiently soft material, using it in conjunction with an insulating material, which, as a rule, is placed in the place of contact with the stem.
Thus, you reduce the risk of damage to the surface of the stem or stem of the plant, which will have a beneficial effect on its life.
Also, speaking of the strapping material, it should be checked in a timely manner and moved slightly higher or lower, since after a long time it may grow into the bark of the seedling, which is serious mechanical damage. Unfortunately, there is always a risk, even regardless of the material used.
Large plants, including overgrown evergreen shrubs, are recommended to be planted in a permanent place along with an earthen clod.
This method is quite safe, since practically nothing threatens the state of the plant's root system - the earthy clod protects the roots from exposure and mechanical damage.
Plants with an earthen clod are usually planted exclusively in the spring and autumn seasons, when the plants need to be allowed to rest.
What should be the lump during transportation and disembarkation? First of all, this, of course, is its density and ability to keep its shape - a lump should not crumble and expose roots, have an average level of moisture.
If the ground is completely dry, then there can be no question of any strength, but if it is too wet, then this can also complicate the whole process, there is a risk of consequences for the plant. For greater reliability, the lump should be wrapped with fabric material.
As for the size of the alleged coma, that here, of course, should be based on the size of the plants. It is always better to dig up a larger lump, since in a new place this will increase the likelihood of successful adaptation and acclimatization to the existing conditions.
When planting a particular crop, be it a permanent or temporary place, you should remember all the basic nuances and recommendations that will play an important role in the survival of the plant on your site.
Be especially attentive to the soil where you decide to plant the plants, collect all the necessary information about it in advance, and only then proceed directly to the process itself.
Competent agricultural technology is the key to a successful result, remember this and do not neglect the details. Good luck!
