The Dubok tomato variety was known back in the Soviet Union. It is grown in the south of Russia, as well as in Moldova and Ukraine. Here the Oak tree can grow outdoors. In the northern regions, it is planted in a greenhouse. And some professionals who prefer fresh tomatoes all year round manage to grow this variety with their own hands in indoor conditions.
Dubok tomatoes are recommended by the state register for growing in small subsidiary farms. This plant is determinate, its height is usually not more than 0.7 m, which is very convenient. Not a standard, very powerful bush to be formed in 3-4 stems. He doesn’t need stepchildren, nor does he seek to branch out. However, if the seed producer of this variety himself claims that it is unnecessary to tie up the bushes, then gardeners do not quite share this opinion. And, although everyone is talking about a large harvest of the Dubok variety, some still believe that the garter is not needed, while others, on the contrary, cannot do without it. It is possible that such a discrepancy in statements depends on the yield or the timeliness of its collection.
Main characteristics of Dubok tomato
The Dubok tomato variety belongs to the early maturing. On average, tomatoes ripen in 95-100 days. Fruiting of this variety occurs until late autumn. Some bushes, with a large harvest or irregular harvest of fruits, may not withstand such a heavy load. The average yield of one bush is about 2 kg of fruits. If you provide proper care and timely collection of ripe tomatoes, then these figures can increase to 5-5.5 kg per bush. In order for the harvest to be always good, the plant needs a living space of about 30 by 40 cm.It is impossible to plant the bushes of the Dubrava variety more often.

The weight of one Dubok tomato is 50-130 grams. Such a difference in weight depends on the method of planting: if the seedlings are planted under a shelter or film, then the fruits will be large. Ripe, they have a bright red color, slightly dryish, firm flesh. But brown tomatoes can also be harvested - they will ripen themselves after a few days. Dubrava tomatoes have excellent taste and are very versatile in use. They make ketchups and vegetable preparations equally well, they are great for canning, and when preparing salads with other vegetables, they give a slight sourness to the whole dish.
Harvested tomatoes can lie for a long time, their shelf life can reach 1.5 months, they do not crack. Transportation is very easy for them, the fruit does not lose its presentation. Due to these properties, the Dubok variety is also preferred by small producers.
The main features of this variety
You can easily say that Dubok tomatoes are frost-resistant. Many diseases are not dangerous for them. A big plus is that this variety easily survives a little high humidity and even drought, while many other varieties of this vegetable need moisture conditions as close to ideal as possible.
But with all the obvious advantages, there is also such a disadvantage: for pollination to occur, the ambient temperature cannot be more than 25 C. Otherwise, the flowers may not be pollinated.
As a tip, always remember that excess moisture is preferable for this tomato variety, rather than drought.
The yield will be large at elevated air temperatures, but the size of the fruits will differ in a smaller direction than the manufacturer claims.
An undoubted plus can be considered the fact that the Dubrava variety grows well both on sandy and heavy soils.
As gardeners note, seeds of this variety and with minimal germination (87%), as a rule, germinate 100%. The seeds can be harvested for planting next season, which also characterizes the Dubrava variety on the positive side.
These tomatoes taste like grade Richie (he is a 1st generation hybrid) that does not produce seeds. Tomato of the Dubok variety does not have this.
Reasons for poor seed germination
And still, given the unpretentiousness of the Dubok variety, declared by the manufacturer, the seeds may not sprout. And it’s not the seeds themselves.
Why could this happen?
- If the seeds have been stored for a long time in low temperature conditions. Then they seem to "fall asleep" and come out of "hibernation" in half a month, or it may not happen at all
- Sour soil is also not preferable for Dubrava tomatoes. All the same, this variety needs at least a neutral soil.
- Plenty of water. If too high% moisture is supplemented by low ambient temperatures, then even with the correct sowing process, the seedlings rot.
- They can also undergo a rotting process or slow down in growth, and simply at very low temperatures.
- Sowing the seed too deeply also has negative consequences.
- Dense and very heavy soil.
- The earth has a high salt content.
- The presence of toxic substances in the soil.
- In the soil used for planting, there may be an infection, and its presence does not depend on where it was taken from. Even if the soil mixture was purchased in a store, do not forget about the desire of unscrupulous sellers to save money (they can collect it just in the forest).
- The seeds themselves can also be infected. Even when purchasing from acquaintances, neighbors, friends, and even more so on the market from private traders, it is imperative to subject the seeds to disinfection.
Therefore, not in all cases when the seeds did not germinate, the manufacturer is to blame. As you can see, this process is influenced by many factors.

Summing up, we can say that Dubok tomatoes have been popular for many years. High yield, even though the fruits are small, this is a definite plus. And the fact that during the breeding of this variety, the breeders were not faced with the task of breeding highly productive, but at the same time, non-seed-producing hybrids, for summer residents it ceases to be a question of where to buy seeds. The Dubrava variety allows you to collect and prepare seeds for the next season on your own.
