In natural conditions, there are about five thousand species of aphids! Some species use exclusively certain crops for food, some are not so picky and harm any plants that have vegetable juice. There are aphids with and without wings, but both species can move along the stems without any problems, multiplying rapidly throughout the plant. The mouth of these insects is designed so that the leaves and stems of young plants are easily pierced and deformed.
The berries themselves also often suffer by losing their juice. Where does aphid on raspberries come from? As a rule, it transmits from plants that were previously infected, as well as from other areas of the land. Ants are also largely to blame, they are carriers of this scourge, since their diet contains aphid milk.
After aphids, a kind of plaque remains on the stems, leaves and berries, which has a sticky structure and a sweet taste. It is also a bait for other harmful insects.
Aphids on raspberry leaves are a very dangerous pest, since they can destroy both the berry crop itself and young shoots. Also, an aphid invasion can provoke the appearance of various fungal diseases. It is very important to use certain drugs or folk remedies on time, otherwise, you may not wait for the harvest.
As a rule, the most dangerous is leaf aphids on raspberries and escaping.
As soon as you notice that there are signs of aphids on your plants, you need to take action. How to determine that it is aphid? First, the leaves of your plant will begin to curl and dry out. Secondly, during flowering, the buds will not fully bloom and will begin to fall. Thirdly, young shoots grow very slowly and dry out slowly. Fourthly, the fruits themselves begin to deform and fall.

It is imperative to remember about agricultural technology for the processing and protection of raspberry bushes.
Some gardeners practice the use of biologically means on their plots aimed at controlling certain pests.Such drugs contain certain bacteria and fungi.
Those who do not want to use any additional agents, neither chemical nor natural, for their plants, plant cultures around the raspberry bushes, which act as a kind of "repellent".

Folk methods of dealing with aphids on raspberries
Among the natural methods of dealing with aphids on raspberries, there are quite a few options. Popular methods are good because they are relatively harmless to nature and the human body. However, it should be noted that such funds are not as effective as possible. Let's list the main ones.
Garlic water from aphids on raspberries
To prepare a garlic infusion, as a rule, plant arrows are used. They are usually harvested during garlic cultivation. Ripe garlic heads are also well suited for these purposes. To prepare one liter of such a product, you will need to prepare two hundred to two hundred and fifty grams of raw garlic. Grind it with a meat grinder or blender. You should get a gruel. Then fill with water. You need to insist such a mixture for three days. Then strain the infusion and dilute with the same amount of water before use. Infusion is sprayed on foliage and shoots of raspberry bushes.
Hot peppers from aphids on raspberries
Against aphids, gardeners often use hot peppers in pods or in powder. For one liter of such a product, you need to take a teaspoon of ground pepper or one pod of ripe pepper. There are two options for preparing this "potion" against aphids:
- If you are using paprika, then you need to grind it first. After that, pour boiling water over the parts of the pepper and keep it on low heat for about 30 minutes. Infuse the mixture until it cools completely.
- If you use powdered pepper, then you need to soak the spice in a glass of boiling water and then leave for about an hour. Wrap the dishes where your product is infused with a towel.
This product must be diluted with water in a ratio of 1:10 before use. Spray raspberry shoots, foliage and flower stalks with pepper infusion.
When the fruits ripen on raspberry bushes, it is not recommended to use such an infusion.
Onion infusion for aphids on raspberries
For cooking, you need to take half a kilogram of onions, you do not need to peel it. Mash it up and then pour in warm water. There should be about five liters of water. It is necessary to insist in warmth for about a day. Then strain your product and squeeze the onion pulp.
This tool is used to spray raspberries, but before that, be sure to dilute the infusion with water in the same amount.
Aphids on raspberries and tobacco dust
Tobacco dust can easily be found on the shelves of garden stores, it is already ready for use. Tobacco dust is used dry or in solution.
- Make a small bag with a few layers of cheesecloth. Pour tobacco dust there, and with the help of light taps, shower the raspberry bushes.
- If you want to prepare an infusion, then take half a kilogram of tobacco dust and fill it with five liters of boiling water. You need to insist for two days. The infusion is used for spraying. Before that, dilute the infusion with water.
Infusion of tomato tops
In order to overcome aphids on raspberry leaves, you can use tomato stepsons. To prepare such a product, take two to three kilograms of tomato greens and pour ten liters of hot water. Insist this composition for three to four days in a warm place. After that, be sure to boil the infusion, so the preparation of the product will speed up. When foam appears, it means that everything is ready, the infusion is ready. Drain and dilute with water in a 1: 2 ratio.
You can also prepare an infusion of potato tops. The fact is that the green mass of plants, which belong to nightshades, has in its composition substances that are strongly disliked by aphids.
Laundry soap
When using this product, remember that the soap should not contain any aromatic additives. First, grind the soap bar. Then the shavings need to be diluted in water, one bucket will be enough. You will get an alkali-based solution that pests will not get used to. You can use this solution as many times as you like.
Such a remedy well increases the effectiveness of other folk methods aimed at combating aphids. This product also has good adhesion. Even a small amount of soap added to the pest control will help keep the aphid poisonous from being washed away by the rain.
We told you about the main folk methods, and now a few rules for the use of these very natural remedies. The fact that such products consist of natural ingredients does not mean complete safety. For example, hot peppers can severely burn the mucous membrane upon contact. And the tops of tomatoes and potatoes can cause an allergic reaction. So do not neglect remedies when using even natural remedies.
To process your raspberries, be sure to choose a time free of rain and high humidity. In rainy weather, the necessary substances will simply be washed off the surface and will not penetrate into the plants. It is best to choose morning and evening hours for processing. During this time, the sun's rays quickly dry out the dew. Processing done in windy weather will not be very effective.
To reliably protect your raspberries from harmful insects, in particular from aphids, carry out the treatment every seven days.

Aphids on raspberries: control with fungicides
In order to get rid of the attacks of aphids on raspberries, many gardeners use fungicides. This is not entirely correct, since such drugs are better suited to fight various diseases. As for getting rid of aphids, insecticides will be the best remedies against it.
There are some rules that will help you forget about aphids for a long time, and at the same time leave the crop safe and sound:
- Pollination of raspberry plants is due to bees. Therefore, while the plants are in bloom, you need to forget about the treatment with the bush with chemistry. These funds pose a significant threat to pollinators.
- More effective are funds that act systemically. The necessary substances enter the plant itself quickly and thereby kill harmful insects.
- If in the instructions for use you did not see the point that the treatment must be carried out during dry and calm weather, then you still need to adhere to this rule.
- Many poisonous substances can be addictive in aphids, for this reason, do not use products with the same composition more than once.
- Read the instructions carefully before using insecticidal products.
- When processing your plants, be sure to use the protection of the skin and mucous membranes.
Let's dwell on certain drugs against aphids in more detail:
Aphids on raspberries and Spark
This drug is manufactured in Russia and there are several variations of it.
- Iskra M. It is a concentrate containing malathion. Available in emulsion form. Has a rather pungent smell, aphids are killed in three to four hours. To do this, ten milliliters of the product must be diluted in ten liters of water. A fresh solution is used for spraying. Do not apply when the plant is flowering and bearing fruit.
- Golden Spark. There are several types of this drug. For raspberries, as a rule, this insecticide is used in the form of a liquid and a powder. The substances that make up the Golden Spark are almost not dangerous to nature and the body. Active ingredients can be stored for no more than a month in plants. Processing is carried out no later than flowering.
- Spark Double Effect. Contains natural pyrethrins. This drug can be used against aphids almost always, with the exception of the time when raspberries are bearing fruit. The drug is not able to penetrate into the plant and accumulate.
- Bio Spark. It is the safest among other insecticidal preparations. Spark Bio is made on the basis of avertine. It is allowed to use such a preparation even during fruiting and flowering. Jaguar, Strela, Aktofit, Fitoverm have the same properties. The composition is safe for the human body, pollinators and the environment.
When buying an insecticide Iskra, pay attention to the time at which this drug was released.
Confidor
This drug for aphids on raspberries has a systemic effect, the main active ingredient is imidacloprid. The ingredients that make up Confidor do not get into the berries, but affect only the leaf plates of the plant. This drug is suitable for use throughout the growing season. A similar chemical composition has such agents as Imidor, Biotlin and Monsoon.
Processing raspberries from aphids at different times
The choice of the remedy that will most effectively rid your raspberries of aphids depends greatly on what time of the year the treatment is planned, as well as how badly the plant is affected.
From the beginning of spring until the buds begin to form, any aphid remedy can be used. Insecticidal drugs, which act in a contact and systemic way, and have a long-term effect, will be able to decompose before flowering begins.
What to use if aphids attacked your plantings during the flowering period? As a rule, most of the insecticidal preparations are of a universal nature. Such funds act in the same way on all insects. Therefore, it is better not to treat varieties that are pollinated by bees with such means.
During flowering, it is better to use preparations with a biologically safe composition with a short protective period. Alternative methods are also good.
If it so happened that the aphid arose at a time when the berries are already forming, then you need to choose the drug carefully. It is best in this case to use folk methods of dealing with aphids. For this, you can use, for example, chamomile broth.
Collect the chamomile buds to make the decoction. You can buy dried inflorescences at the pharmacy. There are three tablespoons with dry inflorescences per liter of broth. Cover the grass with hot water and soak in a water bath for about fifteen minutes. Then strain and dilute with water to three liters. The entire raspberry bush is processed completely. Repeat if necessary after seven days.
Aphid resistant raspberry
Breeders have bred such varieties of raspberries that are least susceptible to attacks by various pests, in particular, aphids. Let's list the most famous of them:
Moroseyka. This variety was bred by Professor Kichin, and gained particular popularity among summer residents in the mid-seventies of the last century. The shoots of this raspberry have a wax coating. This is the protection against various fungi and aphids.
Beauty of Russia. This variety was obtained by crossing Mirage and Maroseyka. This selection was invented by the same professor Kichin. This variety belongs to large-fruited, the berries are very aromatic. Almost not attacked by aphids and fungi.
Tarusa. A tree-like raspberry variety, is a definite innovation in the raspberry varietal variety. Almost not affected by aphids and fungi.
Preventive measures against aphids on raspberries
In order not to know the problems associated with the appearance of pests, you must follow the following rules:
- It is necessary to keep the distance between plants when planting. It is individual for each variety.
- Keep a close eye on the condition of your shrubs.
- Weed the soil regularly. This is necessary because the weed is a carrier of aphids.
- Plant crops close to the raspberry bushes, which will become a kind of repellents. For this purpose, wormwood, chamomile, and garlic are planted.
- Prune old and damaged plant branches periodically.
- In the fall, it is imperative to remove fallen leaves, as this is a great place for the wintering of harmful insects.
- If there are anthills near the planting, treat them with insecticides.
- In nature, there are many helpers who can overcome aphids. So, for example, birds, lacewings, hoverflies and ladybugs can act as natural enemies of aphids.
Subject to all of the above rules, as well as taking the necessary measures to combat aphids on raspberries, your planting will bypass the threat of pest attacks.
