Garden pests: rules for the processing and storage of funds
Almost all summer residents prefer folk remedies for combating garden pests. Folk remedies, as a rule, are considered safe for humans, livestock, beneficial insects and for the horticultural crops themselves. And after all, these methods are very effective, especially at the time of flowering and ovary, when chemicals cannot be used in any case. To the zealous gardeners on a note: all decoctions, infusions, etc., should be used immediately after preparation. In no case should they be stored, as they very quickly lose their properties and become safe for pests. Plants are best prepared in advance for treatments and preventive measures.
If you need dry leaves or plant roots to prepare the infusion, take care of this in advance, preferably in the fall. Before preparing the broth, I recommend soaking dry plants in warm water (the water temperature should be no more than 60 degrees). With strict adherence to the rules, decoctions will be more effective and efficient in pest control.
We fight the onion fly
The most dangerous pests for onion and garlic crops are garden fly larvae. Garden fly larvae are small white worms that are very voracious and can ruin more than 30% of the crop. Tobacco fly is very resistant to various decoctions and infusions, as well as to a number of poisons and chemicals. This fly is extremely difficult to remove, but I found a simple and effective way. Along the edges of the garlic and onion beds, I sprinkle tobacco dust or plant decorative tobacco. I fill the beds themselves with lime mixed with ash (proportion 50/50). I used sand with mothballs a couple of times, but I liked this powder less. The procedure had to be repeated several times.
Scoop, whitefish, moth
If you notice the appearance of intruders on your beds, such as a whitewash, moth or scoop, immediately start solving this problem. In such cases, I usually use burdock leaves. Finely chop the burdock, tamp it and fill it with three liters of water. I insist for three days. Then I spray the beds with this infusion. I repeat the treatment 4 times per season. It is very important to remember that before use, the infusion must be well filtered.
Garden pests mites and aphids
Every summer resident was faced with the fact that spider mites and aphids begin to wield in full on cucumber and cabbage beds. These pests inflict tremendous damage on gardeners. Potato tops will easily help you from this misfortune. From it I prepare an infusion. I take 2 kg of finely chopped tops and fill it all with about ten liters of water. I insist for three hours, filter. I spray the beds with this infusion. If you do not have potato tops at hand, then it is fashionable to use tomato tops. The effect will be the same. You can also prepare a decoction from the tops of tomatoes. Boil two kilograms of tops over low heat for about 30 - 40 minutes. Let the broth cool and add a pinch of grated soap to it. One glass of this product must be diluted in a liter of water and processing can begin. This year, a neighbor told me about a decoction of onion peels, having tried it, I was pleased. We take half a bucket of husk, fill it all with water and heat it to 70 degrees, then send the infusion to a dark place for a day, so that it is infused. Before processing, the infusion must be diluted with water (proportion 50/50).Garlic infusion is no less good in pest control, but it can harm plants, leaving burns on the leaves.
Goodbye slugs
Pests such as slugs usually wield at night or in cloudy weather, slugs destroy everything in their path from cabbage to carrots. You need to deal with slugs like this, in places of a huge accumulation of pests, you need to lay out cardboard, or pieces of plywood. In the daytime, in the scorching sun, they are very vulnerable and therefore in the daytime they seek a dark shelter for themselves. As soon as the slugs have accumulated, they are immediately collected and destroyed. Also tobacco dust helps a lot from slugs. I usually mulch her beds in the evening or in cool weather. These non-tricky measures help me forget about slugs until next season.
