Straw as soil fertilizer
Content:
Straw - organic fertilizer
Straw is a source of nutrients for growth
cultivated plants. Straw as a fertilizer in its structure contains the following elements: nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, carbon, sulfur, calcium, magnesium, boron, copper, manganese, molybdenum, zinc, cobalt.
Straw as fertilizer for the garden
The main benefit of such fertilizer as straw is the enrichment of the soil with mineral elements necessary for the nutrition of the plant root system. When the straw decomposes, humus is formed. For this, it is also necessary to apply nitrogen fertilizer.
In addition, straw improves air flow to the root system of crops, since it contains a large amount of carbon dioxide. Using straw reduces weeds.
Important! So that the straw can have a beneficial effect on the soil,
you need to wait about 8 months. As a result of the application of fertilizer from straw, the structure of the soil is improved.
What straw can be used for fertilization
As a fertilizer, straw of cereals and legumes should be harvested. Dry stems of tubular structure are used. These dry stems should be free from fungal diseases and should be yellow without green spots.
Straw: how to use as fertilizer
The main rule is double plowing.
- First: the straw is not plowed deeply - seven centimeters.
- Second: after a week, the straw is plowed deeper.
With deep plowing immediately, the decomposition of the straw will take longer.
Usually straw is brought into the ground in the fall. Before that, it should be crushed. Straw is introduced at the same time as nitrogen. Chopped straw is scattered over the entire area on nitrogen pre-introduced into the soil. Then the land is plowed to a shallow depth. Smelling
straw at the same time with nitrogen can replace the application of manure.
What else can you make fertilizer from straw
Besides the fact that the straw is used in its pure form, it can be put into the compost pit at the same time with the added trace elements.
The straw is composted as follows: One hundred kilograms of small straw and fifteen kilograms of grass are placed in the pit.
A solution is being prepared: add three kilograms to twenty liters of water
superphosphate, two kilograms of ammonium nitrate, three kilograms
potassium chloride.
This solution is poured onto the composted straw.
Do not stir up the pit for one year.
