Content:
The subspecies of the blackcurrant fruit and berry culture, which we will consider in detail in this article, is called Borisova Poklon. Black currant Poklon Borisova belongs to the representatives of plants with an average period of fruit ripening. This variety appeared in the Research Institute of Horticulture of Siberia named after I. M.A. Lisavenko, thanks to breeders Z.S. Zotova, I.P. Kalinin, N.I. Nazaryuk, M.A. Pershina, I.L. Tesla, by breeding the subspecies Lepaan Musta and Dove Seedling. In 2004, the currant variety Poklon Borisova was included in the State Register of Varieties and zoned for the West Siberian region.

The currant bush Poklon Borisova is considered a weakly growing plant, has an average thickening and an average spreading rate. Its growing shoots are endowed with medium thickness, with a slight curvature, have a pale green color and do not have pubescence. Lignified shoots are pale brown in color. The buds are of medium size, they are sharp, rounded-elongated and golden brownish in color. Also, these buds do not have pubescence, with deviation, solitary. Upper kidney in a free position.
The leaves of the black currant Poklon Borisova are five-lobed. One such leaf has an average size, its surface is matte, pale green in color, without pubescence. It is wrinkled and convex. The blades are pointed, with rather deep cutouts. There are additional projections on the middle blade. The lateral lobes have an obtuse angle between their middle veins. The basal lobes are endowed with good development, their veins are directed towards the petiole. The base of this leaflet has a notch, which is closed by the overlapping edges of the lobes. The teeth are short, wide, with a rather distinct "tip". The leaf petiole has an average length and thickness, without pubescence, a green tint, has a barely noticeable coloration at the edges, and also has a deviation at an acute angle of 45 degrees.
Currant flowers Poklon Borisova, when opened, are large and cupped. Their sepals have a pale pink tint, with a slight curvature, unclosed. The stigma of the pistil is at the level of the anthers. The brushes are endowed with an average length, each up to about 5-6 centimeters. They are drooping and dense. The axis is rather thick, has a sinuosity, green color.
The fruits of the black currant Poklon Borisova have a sufficiently large size when ripe, each berry can reach a mass of 2.5 to 5.1 grams. They are round in shape, black in color. The inside of the berry contains an average number of seeds. The surface of the fruit is covered with a thin skin. When picked, the berries have a semi-dry separation. To taste, these fruits are sweet, with the presence of a slight sourness, and have a universal purpose. Ripening of these fruits occurs in an extended form. It is also worth noting that these fruits have satisfactory transportability. In their chemical composition, berries contain: dry soluble substances 10.6 - 14.3 percent, the amount of sugars 6.6 - 10.6 percent, titratable acids 0.7-2.1 percent, ascorbic acid (vitamin C) - 175, 8 milligrams per 100 grams of product, pectins (wet weight) 1.2 - 2.6 percent.
The main distinguishing features of the currant Poklon Borisova are considered: its high level of endurance to frost and dry season, early maturity, self-fertility.The yield for this variety averages 16 tons per hectare (on an industrial scale) or 4.8 kilograms per shrub (for private cultivation), although a maximum yield of 20 tons per hectare was recorded. This subspecies has good immunity to diseases such as powdery mildew, anthracnose, septoria. Also, the currant variety Poklon Borisova is quite resistant to such harmful and dangerous insects as kidney mites, gall aphids.
