Black currant Paulinka: variety description and characteristics
The Paulinka currant bush is of medium size, the branches are located at a short distance, forming a rather dense crown. The growing shoot is long, thin, even, without curvature. The top of the shoot is purple, with small black dots. Lignified shoots of gray-black color, glossy, rather thick, slightly curved at the edges, the upper part of the shoot is covered with a large number of dots. Currant buds are small in size, conical in shape, the top is strongly elongated, the base is wide, strongly pressed against the shoots.
The foliage is dense, five-lobed, medium-sized, emerald green. Leaf without shine, with a few folds and with veins, which are located throughout the leaf plate. The edges are serrated; closer to autumn, the teeth begin to curl. Petioles are long, thick, well attached to the base.
During the flowering period, the Paulinka currant is covered with a large number of flowers. They are pink-yellow in color, the petals are small, freely arranged.
Note: Since the Paulinka currant variety independently pollinates only partially, a larger percentage of flowers are not fertilized and the bush brings a small crop. To increase the number of berries, it is necessary to plant another variety of currants next to the Paulinka currant variety. It will pollinate the remaining flowers, and thus the bush will be very fertile.
Clusters of Paulinka currant berries reach up to 9 centimeters in length, the average number of berries per cluster is about 8 berries.
Features of the variety
The berries are small in size, about 0.9 grams is the average weight. The skin of the fruit is black-raspberry-colored, the fruit is oval in shape with a slightly sharp top. The skin is dense, protected by a layer of waxy coating. The currant fruits are sweet, tasters estimate the taste at 8.9 points. Berries can be used in preparations or consumed fresh, as they are of universal use.

Black currant Paulinka: reviews of gardeners
- Margarita Semyonovna, Samara region: “The berries of the Paulinka currant are very tasty, we eat them both fresh and make various preparations for the winter. It seems to me that the berries of this variety are superior to many other currant varieties. "
- Andrey Viktorovich, Moscow region: “I really like the fact that the berries of Paulinka currants do not crumble, which means that the harvest from one bush can be harvested much more than from those berry bushes from which half of the harvest has already fallen to the ground and managed to deteriorate.”
- Stanislav Vladimirovich, Leningrad region: “For currants Paulinka planted other currant bushes nearby as pollinators. Thanks to this, my Paulinka currant yielded a very large harvest ”.
