Breeding history
Black currant Imandra 2 is a variety of early, medium ripening. The work was carried out at the Polar Experimental Station. A crossing was carried out between Marita and the Primorsky Champion, these varieties are very popular, so the scientists decided to take them. I consider V. Vitkovitsky, N. Kulikova, S. Elsakova, T. Romanova to be the authors of the work. The currant variety Imandra 2 has been in the state register of the Northern Region since 1994.

The cups are very small, non-falling, closed, with medium-sized stalks.
In terms of composition, the fruits of the Imandra 2 blackcurrant variety contain 1% pectin, 3% titratable acids, 8% natural sugar, 13% dry matter, 4% vitamin C.
Positive and negative qualities of the variety
Pluses of black currant Imandra 2:
- Fast ripening of the crop.
- High yield. On average, the bush brings about 7 kilograms.
- The regularity of fruiting.
- Frost resistant. The currant bush can withstand temperatures up to -30 degrees.
- Partial self-pollination. The bush can be pollinated by 50%, but most often gardeners plant next to another variety of currants. It serves as a neighbor-pollinator, that is, pollinates the remaining 50% of the flowers, thus the amount of the crop increases by 1.5-2 times.
- Resistant to fungal diseases due to a strong immune system.
Cons of black currant variety Imandra 2:
- Small fruit mass.
- Weak resistance to powdery mildew.
