Currant Alyonushka

Alyonushka currant is a medium ripening variety. It was hatched at a research station belonging to the Research Institute, which is engaged in crop production. Crossing was carried out Minaya Shmyreva and a foreign hybrid. The authors of the Alyonushka currant variety are E. Volodina, O. Tikhonova and S. Khotimskaya.

After several months of inspections, the Alyonushka currant variety was registered in the state register of the Western region.

Alyonushka currant: variety description

Alyonushka currant is a rather large bush with highly spreading branches. They are located far from each other, so a large space is formed between them. The growing shoot of the bush is thick, long, even, with a smooth surface, green-brown in color. A lignified shoot of medium thickness and length, brown-gray in color, with slight bends, the top is dark brown in color. The buds are strongly pressed against the shoots, being located, they are conical in shape, medium in size, there is a small amount of fluff. The bud of the top is centered on the other small buds that surround it.

The foliage is sparse, medium in size. The leaves are five-lobed, green in color with a slight golden tint. The surface is wrinkled, with large gray veins that stand out strongly from the main background. The leaf has two surfaces, one of a dark color and the other of a light green-beige color, both of them are covered with long hairs. The leaf plate is even, slightly concave inward. Since the leaf has five lobes, each lobe is strongly elongated and pointed. The base of the leaf is wide, rounded at the edge. The lobes, which are located on the sides, are triangular in shape, with thin, poorly visible veins. The basal lobe is clearly defined, its veins are directed directly to the petioles.

The leaf petioles are medium in size, long, thick, with obvious hairiness, light green in color. It is well attached to the base of the leaf, directed towards the shoots at a certain angle.

During the flowering period, small branches appear on the Alyonushka currant bush. They have a goblet shape, a wide base, and a slight pinkish tint. The sepal of the flower is oval, pink-yellow in color, pubescent, slightly curled and free. The flower petals are spaced apart from each other, forming a fairly lush and airy bud. They are oval in shape, slightly pointed at the ends.

The stigma of the pistils are located at the same levels with the anthers, sometimes lower. The ovaries are pubescent. The cluster of fruits is long, reaching 6-7 centimeters, the berries are evenly distributed, 8-12 berries per cluster. Fruit petioles are medium-sized, thick, turquoise-gray.

Alyonushka currant: characteristic of the variety

The fruits of the Alyonushka currant are large, one berry weighs about 1-1.2 grams. It is smooth, round, regular in shape, shiny, without tuberosity. Inside the fruit is a small amount of white seeds. In adulthood, a slight tuberosity can be seen on the berries near the bases of the berries. The cups are small, closed, drooping, sometimes semi-drooping cups are found.

The taste of the fruit of the currant Alyonushka is sweet and sour, experts estimate it at 8.9 points. Since the fruits are considered universal, they can be used for harvesting and conservation. For example, jam, jam or compote. Also, the berries of the Alyonushka currant can be frozen or consumed fresh. The berries are composed of titratable acids 2.1%, vitamin C 7%, natural sugars 12% and dry matter 23%.
