The Viola plum was bred by breeders of the experimental gardening station in Samara E.P. Finaev, P.P. Ivanov, E.V. Dyuzhin, A.N. Minin by crossing the plums Renklod Bave and Ternosliv Kuibyshevskaya. The new plum variety Viola was entered into the State Register of the Middle Volga Region in 2005.

The Viola plum variety is of medium height and power. Fruit plum tree with a spherical, spreading, not very dense crown.
Viola plum is attached to a bouquet sprig and a lance. On thick, straight, dark red, bare shoots there are a small number of white lentils.
The concave leaf blade has a slightly pubescent surface. Medium-sized, light green, short-pointed and shiny leaves are ovoid with finely serrated edges.
The medium-sized stipules, which fall off early, have the same small green petioles. Leaves of this variety with small, yellow and rounded glands. The flowers of this plum variety are small, rose-shaped, white.
The average weight of one Viola plum is 20 grams. A plum with a tip and small lateral dents, at the base of the fruit - a shallow depression. The length and thickness of the stalk is small, it can be easily separated from the branch, since it is not very firmly attached to the grain.
The Viola plum is green and the surface is blue. The subcutaneous part of the plum has white, inconspicuous dots.
The skin of the fruit has a smooth surface and a slight waxy coating.
Fruit - with yellow-green, tender, juicy, one-color pulp. The fruits of this variety have a sweet and sour taste with an oval bone that does not easily separate from the pulp layer. Taste rating - 4.1 points.
The Viola plum fruit contains:
- dry matter (16.7 percent);
- sugar (about 10 percent);
- acids - 1.44%;
- ascorbic acid (7.85 mg per 100 grams).
Viola plum is versatile, suitable for natural and canned consumption. It makes excellent jams, preserves, compotes.

Viola plum blooms from 10 to 20 May. In this late variety, the fruits ripen by the end of August. Plum has good transportability.
Viola plum begins to bear fruit in about the third or fourth year, and with each subsequent year, the yield only increases. In the 6-7th year, up to 10 kilograms of plums are harvested from one plant. A ten to twelve year old tree will give up to 35 or more kilograms of plums. The harvest can reach up to 60 kilograms per tree.
Plum Viola bears fruit regularly with good fruit attachment. Only in the case of a dry summer can the fruits crumble.
Viola plum variety with medium winter hardiness. In severe frosts, the death of trees cannot be avoided. For example, from the history of observations it is known that in the frosty winter of 1978-1979. Plum "Viola" 12-year-old trees froze by 3.5 points.
The Viola plum variety is also moderately resistant to dry temperatures.
Gum removal (gommosis) is not dangerous for the Viola plum variety, it is rarely affected by it. In different periods, an attack on this variety of moniliosis and plum moth was noted.
