Plum Rakitovaya was bred by A.S. Vologdin and L.A. Sevastyanov on the basis of the Tatar Research Institute of Agriculture by sowing grains of thorny plum, which has large fruits. The plum variety Rakitovaya was included in the state register in 1988, zoned in the Middle Volga region.

Rakitovaya plum tree of medium height, sparse crown, in the form of a reverse pyramid, weakly leafy. The bark covering the trunk is brown, has a gray bloom and roughness. The main branches are brown, smooth. Shoots are reddish-brown in color, rarely slightly bent, pubescence is absent, short, rarely medium in length, thin, have small, light gray lenticels, which are medium dense. The leaves are small, narrow, in the form of an egg, on the contrary, green in color, have a slight wrinkling, matte, convex, there is a slight pubescence, the apex is sharp, rarely stupidly pointed, bends downward, the base is in the form of a wedge, edges with blunt teeth, shortened petioles, thin, with pigment, stipules are lanceolate, of medium size, fall off late. The glands are medium in size, rare, in the form of an oval, rarely round, yellow in color, located on the cuttings and at the base of the leaf. The flowers are white in color, medium in size, the petals are wide and open. The stigma of the pistil is higher or lower than the anthers.

The inner content is greenish-yellow in color, plump, moderately juicy, there is granularity and fiber, the taste is sweet-sour, satisfactory. The fruit stem is elongated, thin. The tear-off site remains dry. The stone is wide, in the form of an oval, of medium size, light brown in color, its apex is wide, round, the base is round, the surface is in small pits and tubercles, the keel is shortened, obtuse. There are no side ribs; you can easily separate it from the pulp.

The Rakitovaya plum tree begins to bloom from May 10 or 20. Plum begins to bear fruit from the fourth to fifth year after planting.
Fruit ripening takes place on the 20th of August. The fruits contain dry matter (17.72%), organic acids (1.53%), sugar (13.14%). Fruits can be eaten fresh, and they can also be processed (make preserves, jams).
