Plum Mirnaya: features of the variety
The flowering process of Mirnaya plum most often falls on the tenth - twentieth of the last spring month. Ripening most often occurs in the second part of the last summer month. The timing of fruit picking is quite early, around the second week of the last summer month. Ripening occurs at approximately the same time, on fruit trees the crop is fixed quite firmly and only when the fruits overripe do they begin to fall off, but not all at once, only a couple of plums. In its raw form, the crop is stored for one to two weeks. The ability to transport fruits over long distances is not bad, and in order not to lose this opportunity, it is necessary to harvest the fruits a couple of days before ripeness. Plum Mirnaya bears fruit rather quickly, at about the age of four to five years. The amount of the crop is large and can be harvested every year. A fruit tree, when it reaches the age of six to eight years, yields a harvest of eight to twelve kilograms, and when it reaches the age of nine to twelve years, it brings a harvest of twenty five to forty kilograms.
Plum Mirnaya has a sufficient level of self-fertility. Planting pollinating trees of the following varieties is recommended:
- «Red early ripening»
- «Zhiguli»
- "Blue Kuibyshevskaya"
- "Kuibyshevskaya ternosliv"
The level of resistance of the Mirnaya plum to cold weather is quite good. In all cold winter seasons, fruit trees do not die. In the winter season of 1978 - 1979, fruit crops planted in 1976 had an estimated freezing level of nine-tenths. The level of resistance to cold in the flower buds of the "mirna" variety is higher than that of this variety. This variety has a high level of drought tolerance, on especially hot days it did not receive any damage, bearing ordinary fruits. Fruit culture is not exposed to gum flow. The crop is not exposed to various diseases. Damage to the peduncle is sometimes found.
Plum Mirnaya is bred by grafting seedlings of the varieties "krasnaya korospelka" and "kuibyshevsky ternosliv" on the rootstocks. If there is a large amount of harvest in this variety, it is required to apply fertilizing with mineral components every year, however, this variety is quite strong before drought, with irrigation, the fruit crop develops and produces a better harvest. Pruning and shaping the crown is ordinary.
Plum Mirnaya: reviews of gardeners
- Maria Yurievna, Chelyabinsk region: “Mirnaya plum unambiguously corresponds to its name, I really did not have any problems with it when growing. It is not very difficult to take care of it, and it gives a very large harvest, and besides, it is very tasty ”.
- Zinaida Viktorovna, Leningrad region: “Every year our Mirnaya plum is stable and brings a harvest of large and juicy berries. I just don't like the fact that this crop grows at no time. I come to the garden only on weekends, so it is inconvenient to harvest more than once. "
