- Fertilize the soil with superphosphate and potassium sulfate.
- With a close location of groundwater, make the beds high.
- The beds should be arranged on the sunny side of the garden.
- The predecessor of dill before planting seeds in open ground cannot be celery.
Dill seeds: outdoor planting
There are two ways of sowing dill seeds in the ground: to obtain lush greenery and to obtain umbrellas used for canning.
In either case, you can plant the seeds several times throughout the summer. Sowing can be done every two weeks. Dill seeds begin to germinate at soil temperatures up to plus seven degrees. Dill tolerates cold well.
To obtain fast shoots, seeds are germinated for four days before planting.
They are wrapped in a wet cloth, placed in a saucer of water and kept until sprouts appear. The water needs to be changed twice a day.
You can plant dill and seedlings. In this case, you can get the harvest faster. Seedlings should be planted in the shade. Landing to a depth of two centimeters. Before planting, the grooves should be treated with a hot solution of potassium permanganate. Maintain a distance between the grooves of twenty centimeters.
Top dressing
Like any plant, dill needs feeding. The main fertilizers for dill are nitrogen fertilizers. Nitrogen is best found in fermented nettle extract. This top dressing does not allow the appearance of aphids - the main pest of dill.

You can also use liquid organic fertilizers for feeding. It must be remembered: you cannot overfeed the plants and not flood them with water. After each watering, you need to loosen the soil, thus providing it with oxygen.
The plant itself will tell you what it lacks. If the stalks have begun to turn yellow, then the plant does not have enough saltpeter. If the lower leaves begin to turn red, then the plant lacks phosphorus.
Pest control
To combat aphids, you can use an alcohol solution: two tablespoons of ethyl alcohol per ten liters of water. This solution should be sprayed onto the dill. Aphids hit the ground. It should be destroyed.
You can also use odorous plants whose scent will repel pests. For this purpose, planting between thyme dill bushes is suitable.
