Planting tomato seeds in the soil
The first thing to do is to process the tomato seeds. The seeds of this culture are very germinable, even in brown tomatoes. In order to determine viable seeds from non-viable ones, it is necessary to immerse the seeds in a five percent solution of sodium chloride.
Such a solution is prepared in a proportion of 50 grams per liter of water. If the seeds have settled in such a solution, then these are viable seeds and they can be sown, and if the seeds have surfaced, then such seeds will not sprout.
Before planting tomato seeds in the soil, it is necessary to soak them in a solution for half a day. The solution is made from the following ingredients: take one liter of water and add half a teaspoon of mullein and half a teaspoon of ash to it.
Then we take out the seeds and put them in warm 25-degree water and leave for 32 hours until the final swelling. After swelling, you will need to immerse the seeds for twenty minutes in a 1% manganese solution, this will protect the future plant from viral diseases. Next, dry well and harden.
It is necessary to start sowing in boxes, observe the distance of the seeds from each other perceptibly two centimeters and plant in a depth of no more than one centimeter. Next, pour the planted seeds with water and cover with foil. Keep the seedlings in a warm place where the temperature is at least 20 degrees. Place the container with seeds in a dark place.
The emergence of seedlings.
As soon as shoots begin to appear, the container must be placed in a place where there is a lot of light, but not hot, up to about 15 degrees for 6 days. This will give you strong seedlings in the future.
After 6 days have passed, it is necessary to raise the temperature to 25 degrees Celsius. Water the seedlings only with warm water. Water two or three times before diving, this will prevent them from stretching too much.
Diving of seedlings.
After the appearance of the first true leaves, the seedlings usually dive into separate cups, before this procedure, water them for three hours. In order to sow seeds and dive, you need to use the following mixture: add manure or peat and three glasses of ash to one bucket.
It will be a plus if you take moss from the forest, which you put on the bottom of the seedling cups, it will serve as a good drainage, because water will not stand in it and there will be no mold. Dive in gloomy weather. When replanting, hold the seedling by the cotyledons.
The stalk of the seedling must be dripped into the mixture until the leaves. To make the lateral roots thick, pinch off the central root by one third.
Water the seedlings in cups very well and keep them out of the sun for about four days, at temperatures up to twenty degrees. Then take it out again to a bright place and water it.
Do not fill the cups to the end with the prepared mixture, leave a place so that there is where to add the same mixture and plus some peat crumb, this will give the plant additional roots.
Water the transplanted seedlings well and keep them in the shade for 3-4 days (20 °). Then back to light and water sparingly. Fill the cups not to the brim, then fill them with the same composition, but on top with peat crumb; while the tomatoes give additional roots.
Seedling care.
Light on the seedlings should fall at least half a day, this will give faster budding. As soon as budding has appeared, make the day longer and start hardening the plants, usually hardening is carried out when it gets ten degrees outside.
A glass of seedlings must be taken out of the house to the veranda, and if there is no wind outside, then there, so you will gradually accustom the plant to the sun. On the first day, take out about 15 minutes, then increase the time.
We feed the seedlings.
It is not always necessary to feed seedlings. We feed it in cases where the seedlings are pale in color and small in growth, for this we feed it with mullein or bird droppings, we dilute the mullein one to eight and bird droppings one to ten.
We also add 15 grams of ammonium nitrate and ten grams of potassium sulfate to one bucket of this solution. Water the plants that need feeding with this solution, half a glass per root. We feed the second time after eight days, already one glass per root.
As soon as you are going to plant seedlings in the ground, then in a few days add two or three grams of superphosphate in granules under each seedling. Next, add fresh earth and sprinkle with water.
Tomato seeds are planted in open ground, usually at the end of May, but, if not cold. If the weather is cold, wait out one or two weeks. Cut the bottom three leaves about a couple of days before planting. Remove and plant from the cup along with the earthy clod.
Usually planted in the evening according to the sixty to thirty scheme. Plant small seedlings vertically, then after two weeks spud each bush by 12 centimeters.
