Gardening in May: protection from the cold
During cold weather, you need to cover berry bushes, as well as low fruit trees. To do this, you can use a dense film, as well as non-woven material, for example, agrotechnical.
If you already have tall apple trees, cherries, plums, pears in your garden, then in order to prevent the trees from freezing, they can be protected by sprinkling.
The sprinkling procedure for gardening in May is as follows: a nozzle with the smallest sprinkler must be installed on the hose. It is important that the water, when splashed, is like a speck of dust. Sprinkling should be started only when the temperature drops to zero.
Do not be alarmed that there will be small icicles on the leaves, the flowers will not suffer.
Protection from pests and other diseases
The most common disease in apples and pears is scab caused by the fungus Venturia inaequalis. To prevent its appearance, you need to spray the trees with agiga-peak (about 40-50 g) or soon (about 1 ampoule) per 10 liters of water before flowering.
In order for the cherry to have no fungal diseases, it is necessary to spray with chorus before flowering (2 g per 10 l), and after flowering also begins soon, with the dosage indicated above.
It is recommended to treat sea buckthorn and plum with an infusion of onion peels (200 g of onion peels per 10 liters of warm water, hold for 10 days, and then strain and can be used) this is necessary in order to protect the shrubs from leaf-eating pests.
By the way, onion infusion also helps to fight the spider mite, which quite often attacks the berry.
Around the middle of May, flying pests will appear; to catch them, you can hang jars of old jam.
To combat flower beetles and moths, you need to tie trapping belts to tree trunks.
Starting from May 13-15, the sweetest period begins - planting strawberries.
