Rose Gloria Day: planting and care

Climbing rose Gloria Day is a plant that does not require special care and attention. However, in order to create for her the best conditions for abundant and long flowering, it is necessary to take seriously the selection of a place for her permanent residence.
Gloria Day loves fertile, well-drained, loose, neutral or low acid soils. It must contain at least 3% humus. A place previously belonging to legumes is perfect.
As a rule, the planting of Gloria Day roses begins in early May, when the threat of frost has passed, and the soil has time to warm up. The plot is prepared for them in the middle of autumn. To do this, it is well dug up with a shovel and the soil is fed with the help of organic and mineral fertilizers.
Note, so that the selected location is protected from strong winds.
Flower nests are prepared in spring. Their depth should be about 30 centimeters, the distance between them should be at least 30 centimeters, and between the rows at least 40 centimeters. When planting, it is necessary to cut off all shoots, except for 2 or 3 15 centimeters long, which are most developed. The buds growing on top should look outward of our bush. Before planting, it is also important not to forget to shorten the root system by 20 centimeters. While lowering the roots into the nests, spread the roots.
After planting, the Gloria Day rose bush must be spud, raising the ground by 15 centimeters.
Please note that this variety can be planted both in the spring and in the autumn. If you decide to use the second option for landing, then take care of a good shelter. Roots need conditions in which they can take root and not freeze.
In the first year after planting, the plant does not need additional feeding. However, it is necessary to loosen and huddle the soil, thus giving more oxygen to the roots. Remember to water regularly.
After the threat of frost has disappeared and the shelters are removed, pruning should begin. All damaged and frozen shoots, as well as branches are cut off.
A wonderful hybrid tea rose Gloria dei, loves moist soils. For watering them, it is necessary to use exclusively warm water, which has time to settle. This should be done in the evening, under the root of the plant.
Since the Gloria Day rose loves fertile soil, it must be fed regularly.
The first time this is done in the spring. For this, organic matter in the form of compost and humus is well suited. When the bud formation period begins, a second feeding is done. Bird droppings in liquid form or humus are introduced into the soil. The third time after the first flowering ends. Complex mineral fertilizers bought in a specialized store are best suited here.
Diseases and pests
In the summer, it is important to do prophylaxis against various diseases and insects. Among those that carry the most dangerous consequences for the plant are:
- Marsonine rose or black spot is a fungal disease that occurs due to stagnation of water in the soil, when planting too close and with a lack or too much nutrients. As soon as a disease is detected, it must be treated immediately. For this, the plants are treated with fungicides, which include mancozeb.
- Rose aphid - This insect sucks sap from plant cells. From buds, leaves, buds. Having noticed them, it is necessary to process the bushes as soon as possible, otherwise they will weaken and die. For processing, gardeners often use Chlorophos and soap solution. The second can be used as much as you like, wiping the leaves with it, since it is absolutely harmless.
In order to form bushes, you need to cut them off. The best time for this is autumn. This procedure helps to freshen the plants and ensure good flowering for the next year.
In mid-October, the bushes must be spud and covered with sawdust mulch.
When the snow has completely melted, the insulation is removed, but carefully so that the sun does not damage them.
Gloria Day: variety breeding
Reproduction of the climbing rose Gloria Day occurs by cuttings. This is done in order to preserve all the properties of this beautiful flower. To do this, lignified branches, but which still continue to grow, are cut at an angle of 45 degrees, planted in the ground and covered with a transparent plastic bottle.
You can also bent the lower shoots to the ground and sprinkle with soil. The soil is constantly watered and after the roots appear, the plant is transplanted to a permanent place of residence.

- You can find and purchase this plant in any specialized store, nursery or on the Internet.
Perhaps these plants have only one drawback - it is the need to use shelters for the winter.
I would like to note that this beauty became a symbol of peace and understanding in 1945, which was issued to everyone who took part in the United Nations Assembly.
The use of Gloria Day's rose in landscaping:
As mentioned above, the Gloria dei hybrid tea rose in design is loved by many experts. Therefore, without her participation, there is no decoration of various parks, alleys, gardens, squares, etc. It is used both for individual planting and in conjunction with other plants. Due to its versatility, it can be perfectly combined with them.
By planting several bushes side by side, they will look richer. And of course, on a flat lawn, roses will be able to demonstrate all their beauty. For example, if there is enough space on the site, then you can plant evergreen shrubs nearby, such as gypsophila, lobularia, verbena, and groundwort. It is not worth combining with bright views, as they will begin to distract attention from each other and lose their decorative appearance.
Gloria Day hybrid tea rose is rightfully considered the leader in designs both on city streets and in private gardens. Thanks to the many shades of colors, sometimes very unusual, she is loved all over the world.
