Roicissus: plant video
Like many houseplants, Rocissus is native to the rainforests of South America. This genus has about 10 species and belongs to the "Grape" family, being an excellent decorative vine. Despite its tropical origin, Rocissus is undemanding to environmental conditions and does not need complicated care. This plant is equally comfortable in both warm and cool rooms, as well as in bright light and shade. Roicissus grows very quickly and at home it can reach one and a half meters. Its leaves are bright green in color and beautifully carved edges. The plant blooms when grown indoors extremely rarely, its small flowers are collected in umbrella-shaped inflorescences. Roicissus has excellent decorative qualities, and even the most inexperienced grower can take care of it. We will tell you exactly how to look after in this article.
Roicissus: home care

As we said earlier, the rocissus will do equally well in good light and shade. But still, he will be most comfortable in a sufficiently bright diffused lighting. If you place the plant in direct sunlight, then over time, the color of the leaves may lose its brightness.
In the warm season, the optimum air temperature is + 20 ... + 25 degrees. For some plant varieties, lowering the temperature during winter is recommended, but this is not a prerequisite for successful cultivation of Rocissus.
There is also no need to maintain high air humidity and install additional vessels with water. But once every few days, it is recommended to spray the plant from a spray bottle with settled water at room temperature.
In spring, summer and early autumn, the Roicissus plant needs abundant watering. Then watering should be reduced and carried out only when the topsoil dries up. As in the case of any other plant, the earthen coma should not be allowed to become overmoistened or dry out. As a result, foliage falls off, shoots become smaller, when waterlogged, mold or brown spots may appear on the foliage, and the roots of the plant begin to rot. Therefore, one of the most important factors in plant care is precisely watering.
In order for a rocissus plant to grow actively and look great, it must have enough nutrients. Therefore, with the onset of spring, it is necessary to start feeding and this should be done twice a month. Any fertilizer for decorative foliage plants, which can be purchased at flower and agricultural stores, is suitable for Roitsius.
Roicissus: flower transplant

In the early years, the roicissus plant is transplanted every spring, gradually increasing the size of the flower pot. Starting from three years old, it will be enough to replant Roicissus every two or three years, but do not forget about fertilization and renew the topsoil in a flower pot or tub every spring. The soil mixture is prepared from equal parts of leafy, turfy land and humus.
Roicissus: indoor flower reproduction
In theory, Roicissus can be propagated in three ways: grow from seeds, divide an adult bush, or root cuttings.Growing Rocissus from seeds is complicated by the fact that the plant practically does not bloom at home, so we will not consider this option. Dividing a bush is not difficult, but still less popular than rooting cuttings. Cuttings root very easily, so experts recommend propagating the plant in this way and doing it at the very end of winter or in spring. You can put the cuttings in a container of water and wait for the roots to appear (do not forget to throw an activated charcoal tablet into the water, so it will stay fresh longer). Or, you can plant the cuttings directly into the soil by preparing a flower pot of a suitable size and not forgetting about the expanded clay drainage layer. Place three or four cuttings in such a pot at once, so the plant will look fluffier after rooting. After deepening the cuttings in damp ground, cover them with a jar, bag, or cut plastic bottle and use this makeshift greenhouse until the cuttings have fresh young leaves. This will mean that rooting has taken place. Until that moment, do not forget to moisten the soil and raise the shelter for a few minutes every day for ventilation.
Possible problems with the plant and how to solve them

Among the harmful insects on the roitsius, you can find the scale insect or spider mite. In either case, you should immediately isolate the plant, and then in two steps treat it with some kind of insecticide with an interval of several days. You can return such a plant to the company of other indoor flowers only after you are convinced of the complete extermination of pests.
During the winter months, you need to be especially careful with the amount of watering, as during this period mold can appear on the Rocissus. If possible, place the vine away from heating appliances for the winter and increase the intervals between waterings.
To prevent the indoor roicissus flower from stretching, you need to take part in the formation of the bush, pinching the tops of the shoots in a timely manner and forming a beautiful fluffy crown.
