Rivina: photo of a plant
Rivina is a low growing ornamental shrub belonging to the Rhykolaccaceae family. A plant native to the American tropics and subtropics. Under indoor conditions, low rivina is grown, attracting gardeners with a multitude of berries, which are strewn with plants.
Rivina humilis is an evergreen dwarf shrub that grows in length up to one and a half meters. Shoots are strongly branched, have weak pubescence, lignify in parts. The shoots are covered with leaves in the form of an egg, the foliage also has sharp tips, reaches ten to twelve cm in length, and approximately four cm in breadth. The leaves are colored green, have a dense, short, light pubescence. The inflorescences are small, pink-white in color, located on small tassels, reaching up to ten cm in length. The decorativeness of rivina is that it has small, rich red berries, which is why it attracts gardeners. There are also varieties that can delight with their cherry or yellow fruits.

Illumination level.
Since the native land of rivina is a tropical climate, it is better to grow it in bright, but diffused illumination, especially at a time when there is not enough light at all. In this situation, fruit dropping may occur.
Temperature conditions.
In summer, the temperature regime is maintained within twenty degrees. When winter comes, temperature conditions drop to fifteen to eighteen degrees. At a lower temperature regime, the plant can throw off the leaves.
Humidity level of the air.
Rivin's shrub needs to be sprayed regularly. This is necessary because the plant needs to maintain the moisture content of the air at a suitable level.
Watering.
When the spring season comes and throughout the summer season, watering is carried out when the surface soil layer dries up. When the autumn period comes, watering is reduced, and with the onset of the winter season, watering almost stops, especially if the wintering of the flower is carried out under low temperature conditions.
Fertilization.
When the houseplant Rivina is actively growing (from spring to autumn), fertilizing is applied systematically, 2 times every thirty days. Moreover, it is preferable to feed the flowers with a complex for decorative deciduous vegetation. In winter, during the dormant period, feeding is not required.
Transplanting.
Every year, when the spring season comes, the culture is transplanted into pots, larger in depth. And keep in mind that rivina likes to grow in narrow containers. Under these conditions, development, flowering and fruiting are better. The soil mixture is composed of leafy, sod and humus soil in equal parts. A drainage layer is placed in the container to drain excess water.
Circumcision procedure.
When the spring season comes, the plant is rejuvenated. By cutting, they form the general shape of the bush. Pruning is also required because flowering and fruiting is observed only in young shoots.
