Radermacher
Content:
The Radermacher genus belongs to the Bignonium family and, according to the latest data, has seventeen species. For the first time these plants were described by the Dutch scientist Jacob Cornelis Matthieu Radermacher, whose name later gave the name to the whole genus. The homeland of plants is China, in Europe Radermacher began to grow quite recently, only in the eighties of the last century. But thanks to its beauty and unpretentiousness, Radermakhera quickly gained popularity among lovers of indoor plants, even a novice and inexperienced florist can take care of her. In this article, we will tell you exactly what conditions the plant needs, what difficulties may arise in the process of growing it and how to cope with them.
Radermacher: description of the indoor flower

The Radermacher genus is represented by shrubs and trees, some of which in natural conditions can grow up to 30 meters, while the trunk of such a specimen will reach a meter in diameter. In indoor growing, the growth of the Radermacher plant will not exceed one and a half or a maximum of two meters, and then there is sufficient space and high ceilings in the room. The double-plumose leaves of the radermacher have a rich bright green color, which is probably why the plant is also called the "emerald tree". Although the foliage of the Caprima variety, for example, is painted in green-beige colors.
Radermacher flowers, depending on the species, are white-yellow or orange in color. These are rather large elongated bells, which can reach a length of up to 7 cm. Flowers bloom only at night and have a delicate pleasant aroma of spices. At home, the plant almost never blooms, but this does not prevent it from remaining popular with flower growers.

Lighting. The most suitable place for Radermakhera would be a western or eastern window sill, on which it is sufficiently light, but at the same time you can avoid hot daytime rays, which are contraindicated for a plant. It is recommended to turn the flower pot with the plant constantly so that the plant does not stretch towards the light in one direction.
In the winter months, the Radermacher also needs good lighting, otherwise it stretches out and begins to resemble a vine, while the shoots become thinner and the leaves are smaller.
Air temperature. In spring and summer, the air temperature must be maintained in the region of 20-25 degrees, in winter it can be slightly reduced, but not lower than + 14 ... + 16 degrees, otherwise the plant will die. But here it should be noted that Radermacher does not need a mandatory cool period of rest, but he loves fresh air very much, so the room must be ventilated daily, but at the same time make sure that no drafts arise.
Air humidity. The Radermacher bush will feel most comfortable in high humidity. You can spray the plant from a spray bottle (the water must first be defended), arrange a warm shower for it in the bathroom, place household humidifiers or vessels with water nearby. However, if you have only a shower or a spray bottle at your disposal, then this will be enough, since with an average humidity of the air, Radermacher does not feel bad.
Watering mode. In spring, summer and early autumn, watering a houseplant Radermacher should be immediately as the topsoil dries up.In the fall, the amount of watering is gradually reduced, and in the winter it is watered only as needed in order to prevent the earthen coma from completely drying out. It is important to develop a certain watering regime, taking into account the temperature and humidity of the air in the room, in which you will not allow the soil to completely dry out, but at the same time you will not flood the plant - both can lead to unpleasant consequences.
Do not forget that you cannot use tap water for irrigation, it must first settle for several days.
Fertilizers. In any flower shop or garden center you will find a wide selection of fertilizers for decorative foliage plants, you can choose any that you like. Beginning in March, root feed twice a month, the last of which should be in September. In winter, there is no need to fertilize the Radermacher.
Radermacher: transplanting a conmat plant

Regarding the transplantation of Radermachers, I will not tell you anything new - while the plant is young, it should be transplanted every year, adult specimens are transplanted about once every three years, when the roots become cramped and they begin to look out of the drainage hole. If your plant has grown to the promised two meters and is placed in a large tub, then you should not bother him, it is enough to change the topsoil annually. When doing this, be careful not to damage the roots.
In the process of transplanting Radermachers, it is very important to take care of the presence of a good drainage layer, as a rule, this becomes the key to the health of the plant roots, as it helps to avoid stagnant moisture. Radermacher does not need any special soil; it will be enough to purchase soil for decorative deciduous plants.
Reproduction of Radermachers at home

Reproduction of Radermachers is possible in three ways: by sowing seeds, layering and cuttings.
- Sowing seeds Radermakers carry out the same way as they sow any other seeds: you need a container of nutrient soil and a transparent shelter to make a greenhouse. Seedlings should appear in about 10-14 days, and after another three weeks of boring, it will be possible to plant in separate flower pots and care for them, like an adult plant.
- When propagating by layering you need to make a centimeter cut on one of the shoots, wrap it in this place with wet moss, and wrap a plastic wrap over the moss. It is important to ensure that the moss under the film remains moist at all times. After the roots begin to grow in this place, the shoot can be carefully separated from the mother plant and planted in your flower pot, no more than 15 cm in diameter. If you do not separate the shoot immediately, but wait until the roots fill the entire package, then an excellent result after the transplant, you are guaranteed.
- But still, the most popular breeding method for Radermachers remains grafting... Apical cuttings are rooted in May or June, this is the most optimal time. The size of the cuttings should not exceed 10 cm; it is recommended to use either clean sand or a mixture of sand and peat as a substrate. Deepening the cuttings 2-3 cm into a damp substrate, cover them on top with a bag or jar and keep the impromptu greenhouse warm, remembering to moisten the soil and ventilate the shelter. As soon as fresh leaves appear, rooting can be considered complete.
Problems you may face when growing a plant

Some types of harmful insects can attack the lush green foliage of Radermachers. Inspect all your plants regularly in order to timely detect the appearance of pests, isolate the damaged specimen and begin treatment. On the radermaker, you can spot spider mites, mealybugs, aphids or scale insects. It is worth immediately using insecticidal preparations of your choice and carrying out two or three treatments, making sure that the pests are completely destroyed.
In addition to parasites, you may encounter negative changes in the appearance of the plant, which always indicate a violation of the rules of care. And despite the fact that the room Radermacher is quite unpretentious, you should carefully observe its foliage in order to notice the problem in time and find a solution.
If the plant does not have enough light, then the shoots begin to stretch, become weaker and stronger, the foliage turns yellow and falls off.
With insufficient watering, the Radermacher leaves become lethargic, losing elasticity, but soon after watering, they return to their usual state. If, with these symptoms, no changes occurred after watering, then the problem, on the contrary, is in excessive soil moisture.
Drying tips of Radermacher leaves usually indicate low humidity in the room. It may be necessary to place the plant away from the heat source during the heating season.
If the Radermacher foxes are getting smaller and paler, and the shoots look weakened, then it is worth checking the feeding schedule - perhaps you completely forgot about fertilizers and the room Radermacher simply needs additional nutrition.
