Sowing rules for all crops in one article
Many summer residents, in pursuit of the goal of collecting a larger harvest from the garden, use in their practice a variety of types of planting crops. It can be mixed, and compacted, and repeated sowing and planting. A novice summer resident will certainly ask - what is it like sowing crops? Let's try to figure it out in order.
Starting a conversation about crops of a repeated type, then everything is simple - from one territory, one place where crops were planted, the method of collecting a repeated crop is used, reaching up to two or three times a year. For such crops, however, vegetable sets such as tomato, cucumber and cabbage seedlings planted after harvesting early green crops, such as spinach, bok choy, lettuce and green onions, are recommended; planting lettuce and spinach after harvesting the early radish, then repeating the algorithm and, under ideal conditions, your harvest can be the most productive and varied in one year.
In the case of sowing compaction, it is customary to subject one crop to compaction at the expense of the other. For example, it is recommended to compact tomatoes with other green vegetables, the sowing period of which is characterized as significantly early in comparison with the main crop.
Continuing the conversation about mixed crops, the seeds of two different crops are sown at the same time - for example, gardeners often sow lettuce together with carrots or, say, dill in one common row, but proportions should be observed - for 10 carrot seeds you should take from 1 to 2 lettuce seeds. At the same time, if the seedlings turn out to be fast, this means the opportunity to start caring for the carrot crops - this is interconnected and implies a certain convenience for the summer resident, because an additional harvest from lettuce or dill will never be superfluous.
Of course, one should not think that all cultures will be able to get along in the same garden at the same time. There are those who will not tolerate inappropriate neighborhood, will resist and conflict with each other. For example, if such neighbors as cabbage, beans, onions, all kinds of green vegetables are suitable for tomatoes, and carrots take root along with lettuce, peas and onions, then the planted potatoes, on the contrary, will not tolerate the neighborhood with cucumbers and tomatoes - these are its biological features, requirements for the conditions of development and growth.
The most popular neighborhood is sowing cucumbers together with carrots, which gives its effect - the overall level of carrot yield per unit area increases, and carrots also create more favorable conditions for cucumbers at the initial stage, by protecting them from cold snaps and wind currents. Thus, cultures begin to form a kind of symbiosis, as it were - to help each other in development, based on a common benefit for development and general growth.
Sowing crops of different families has its own special advantages, with a list of which it is recommended to familiarize yourself in advance in order to realize what role this interesting experiment will play for your garden.
First of all, plants of different types, but favorably adjacent to each other, will use a whole range of nutrients, in contrast to the one-sided consumption of a single crop, which can have a beneficial effect on the soil, preventing its depletion. For example, peas and onions, as well as cabbage lettuce, are modest in terms of nutrient intake, while carrots and bell peppers are already more nutritionally demanding. Vegetables such as pumpkin, corn, tomatoes are already quite gluttonous, but they also give a rich harvest if they are cared for in the right way.
Cultivation of different crops due to the dynamics of general growth also prevents the accumulation of harmful metabolic products, preventing stagnation in the crops themselves. Remember that some species require a one-year break, after which they can be planted back to their original place.
It should also be noted the advantage that it reduces the risk of damage by pests and all kinds of diseases, because usually the disease adapts better to the culture of one species; it simply does not have enough of its own resources for different ones.
The use of the soil, namely its fertile layer, occurs most densely, thereby using its full potential. Just remember about the method of alternating vegetable crops in the growing process, because the root system of different cultures deepens to different distances under the ground - be very careful in this matter.
Growing several crops at once in your own garden, you can benefit not only in additional protection, growth efficiency and speed, but also in saving space on the site if its size does not allow it to spread as it was originally in your plans. As well as tying trees and shrubs, mixed crops are a practical solution for many attentive summer residents - in no case should you take on this business without understanding all aspects and nuances. Be sure to check, first of all, the compatibility of crops, the place for their cultivation, the composition of the soil and its structure. Try it!
