Sevok is not a specific kind of onion. It is grown from seeds harvested from flowering onions. It is very small and elongated. Bulb weight is about 2.5 grams. It looks the same as onions. At the bottom of the bulb there are the same roots, only smaller. Husks of the same color and the same fleshy insides.

Purpose of sevka

Sevok onions are planted in open ground in order to get real onion heads. Greens grown from it are used for food. This is the main purpose of the set.

Sort out healthy and strong bulbs. Carefully cut off the dry part on top. Be careful not to prune the inner seedling. This activity will allow the bow to rise at the same time and early.

Before planting, onion sets need to be disinfected to protect the onions from future diseases. Disinfection is carried out in two ways - in saline solution and in potassium permanganate. These activities will kill the spores of fungi on the bulbs and grow healthy onions.

The bow can be put into a stocking. Prepare a solution of one tablespoon of salt per liter of water. Place a stocking with onions in this solution and keep it in the solution for two hours. Then rinse the onion with plain water.

After washing the onions, the onions should be disinfected in potassium permanganate. Add three grams of potassium permanganate to three liters of water. Keep the stocking with onions in this solution for two hours as well. Now you can start planting.

How to prepare the soil for planting onion sets

In the spring, disassemble the onion sets into two types: with a diameter of 1.5-3 cm and 1 cm, and smaller. Small sevok - wild oats are planted in the open ground before winter.

In the fall, rotted manure must be introduced into the ground for sowing. Dig the bed to a depth of 15 centimeters. Apply mineral fertilizers. A week before sowing, pour the soil with a solution of copper sulfate at the rate of one tablespoon per twelve liters of water.

The depth of planting of bulbs is of great importance. It should be at least three centimeters in weak soils, and at least 1.5-2 centimeters in heavy soils. But not deeper than the indicated values. The ground should be crushed after landing. After that, cover the beds with mulch. You can use straw, peat, sawdust for mulch.

A few rules for caring for onions

Remove weeds systematically every two weeks by loosening the soil.

In May and June, water often at the root and between the rows, provided that it does not rain. Then gradually reduce watering, and stop completely twenty days before harvesting.

Until mid-July, apply complex mineral fertilizers three times.
