Planting onions:
Consider some ways to grow onions.
There are four methods of planting onions:
- we sow seeds in the ground;
- we sow ready-made seedlings;
- sow sevka;
- we sow vegetatively.
If you nevertheless decide to start your own business on planting this vegetable crop, then you need to choose a good variety of this crop, and also prepare the land where you will sow onions.
In September, you need to dig up the area where the onions will sprout, remove unnecessary weeds, and also fertilize in the form of superphosphate. In the spring, after the snow melts from the soil, you need to fertilize the soil where you will plant the onions.
Fertilizer for him will be humus, it needs to be applied per one square meter, six kilograms. After humus has been brought in, the soil must be dug up and beds made for sowing onions.
It is recommended to sleep wood ash on the finished beds. Further, the beds can still be watered with a solution of copper sulfate and, after watering, cover with oilcloth before planting.
If you decided to grow onions yourself, then in the first year you need to sow seeds or even their nigella, the next year they use onion sets for planting, which came out of nigella that year.
Well, in the third year, in order for you to get new seeds, you need to plant already adult bulbs. Usually gardeners grow this vegetable from seed.
Planting black onions in open ground
From the seeds of onions (nigella), small bulbs are obtained in a year and they are called sets. Sowing is much easier. First, we select large onions, we will plant them in the spring. In summer, umbrellas with seeds, black in color, may appear from such bulbs.
Plant dill and calendula on the ridge where onions grow, they will prevent onions from diseases. If you do not want the so-called "onion fly" to start in your onion, then place the onion beds next to the beds of nigella and carrots.
Before sowing nigella, it is necessary to remove all weeds and unnecessary roots. Peas, cabbage, cucumbers, potatoes, and beans can be the predecessors of nigella.
If they were grown on soil with a good amount of manure, then after sowing nigella you will not need to reintroduce humus.
Nigella seeds will not need to germinate if the soil is wet in the place where you plant it. The seeds of this culture are planted either in rows or simply by scattering them over the ridge.They are usually not planted deeply, about two centimeters from the surface.
After sowing the seeds, water the garden well until they germinate. If your soil is clayey, then do not allow the formation of a crust, loosen it regularly, otherwise the seeds will not be able to hatch through it. If the seeds come out very often, then they should be thinned out.
When you cut it for the first time, leave a distance of two centimeters between the shoots, the second time leave a distance of six centimeters. Before removing the nigella, you should not water it twenty days before.
