This is the color of the leaves and the shape of the spirea itself. More than half of all plant species tend to change the color of the foliage to another in the fall. How to plant spirea correctly?
There are two ways of planting spirea: single (only spirea bush) or group (mixed with other herbaceous plants). It is possible to make a "live" fence and a flowerbed of perennial plants from spirea. If you have chosen to create a "live" fence, keep in mind that the distance between the plants should be about sixty centimeters, the distance between the beds is about fifty centimeters. With a mixed planting, it is necessary to maintain a distance between plants of seventy-five centimeters. Spirea can be planted at the beginning of autumn, it is better to look in advance according to the weather forecast for the presence of clouds and precipitation in the form of rains. It is recommended to plant in this particular weather. Subtract thirty-five percent from the size of the root system; these thirty-five percent should contain a planting hole with a root inside. It is necessary to plant to a depth of fifty-five centimeters, carefully place the root collar on the same level with the soil. Drainage from crushed bricks and sand will work.
How to prune a shrub correctly?
Immediately after winter, it is necessary to arrange for the removal of excess parts of the plant. How to do it correctly: cut the shoot to the place where the buds grow, if the shoot is very small, cut it entirely.
Timely removal of shoots helps to strengthen them. In the absence of pruning processes, the plant will begin to dry out. The plant has a stem that lives for about eight years, but it is called perennial. The deciduous top is pruned after three years of life of the spirea. Pruning of the shoots often kept the plant looking and vigorous. Otherwise, the plant is simply removed, as it may get sick or simply die.
Spiraea: how to propagate and care properly?
The plant can be propagated by three methods: spring cuttings and summer cuttings, layering, seeds. You need to sow seeds in March. Before that, mix the earth with the leaves. It is recommended to sow in containers, the soil must be pre-wet. Sprinkle with earth mixed with peat.
At the moment, the most common breeding method is with the help of cuttings. It is important to consider that the air must be humid. If you propagate with a spirea by layering, make sure that the branches are covered with foliage. The plant will bloom well only if you provide it with the right care. It is worth remembering about feeding, this can be done after removing the branches. To obtain the necessary fertilizer you need: about five to six buckets of water, one bucket of manure, superphosphate.
It should be noted the high level of frost resistance of the spirea, which means that it is unnecessary to prepare an additional shelter. The plant is light-loving, it is recommended to plant in a sunny area, but watch out for the moisture of the soil. Spirea is absolutely not drought-resistant. Remember to loosen and weed the soil.
