Tomatoes are imposed, but they refuse to blush
Content:
In terms of the quantity and quality of the crop, it is not necessary year after year. It sometimes happens that tomato fruits weigh a lot on the bushes, but for some reason they do not ripen. They just refuse to blush, but the reason for this is very difficult to understand. Almost all gardeners have encountered this phenomenon. Tomatoes they stop growing, they are still very small, but they are already starting to blush. But more often tomatoes weigh green on the bushes, and redness is not even expected, or they begin to blush, but stop halfway. In this case, gardeners have the question of what happened to the crop, and how to deal with it. But it is very difficult to answer this question clearly.
Why tomatoes don't turn red
Initially, you need to understand why tomatoes do not ripen in the greenhouse, and why the same thing happens with tomatoes that grow in the open field. And also what needs to be done to correct the situation.
If you start harvesting without waiting until it is fully ripe, then the taste of the tomato will be completely different, one might say "empty". And the vitamins in such tomatoes will be much less than in those that ripened on the bush in natural conditions.
In general, tomato development is divided into two stages.
- The first is when the ovary appears, and the fruits begin to actively grow.
- The second is when in a month the tomatoes start to sing.
With the normal development of tomatoes, the fruits begin to sing and turn red very quickly.
In principle, there are several reasons why tomatoes do not ripen: lack of sunlight - in this case, the branches with fruits must be carefully lifted up so that the sun shines on them well and put some props on them.
Too dense planting of a tomato - in this case, you need to carefully tear off excess foliage so that there is a distance between the bushes. In general, do not forget that the distance between the seedlings should be at least 40 cm.
It also happens that the tomatoes on the bushes are very large, but they do not even begin to blush - this only means that they lack some elements and need to add an extraordinary appropriate top dressing to the ground.
What measures can be taken
For example, in order for the tomatoes to start singing faster, they can be poured with a weak solution of potassium permanganate; in the case of such feeding, the tomatoes begin to blush quickly enough.
All experienced gardeners know that if the fruit has some kind of damage in the form of a crack, then they ripen much faster than those that are completely intact. So you can help the tomatoes ripen with your own hands. You just need to make a couple of punctures on each green tomato, and soon you will be pleased with the red fruits.
Ripe tomatoes are dominated by an element such as ethylene. Therefore, you can put one ripe tomato in a bag and put it on a branch with green fruits, and after a couple of days it can be removed. Ripe fruits will favorably affect the green ones, and they, in turn, will begin to sing very quickly. But this method is good if there are not so many green tomatoes, but if green tomatoes hang on almost half of the bush, there is no point in this method.
Closer to autumn, you can pinch the bushes themselves, as well as prune new inflorescences. There will definitely not be any sense from them, since they will definitely not have time to keep up, and they will take away the strength from the bush.
As strange as it may sound, you can speed up the ripening of a tomato with simple vodka. This will not affect the taste or benefit at all, but they will ripen much faster. This method is quite simple, 0.5 ml of vodka must be injected into each immature fetus using a syringe.
You also need to tear off the old sheets in time, there is absolutely no benefit from them, and they take away the strength from the bush.
There are also several reasons why those tomatoes that grow in the open field do not ripen: for example, if the fruits of tomatoes are in direct sunlight, then they simply lose their color.
If tomatoes are infected with such a dangerous fungus as late blight, then they simply stop blushing, and over time they begin to rot.
If the weather is cold outside, the tomatoes do not have enough heat and sun and, accordingly, they do not ripen. The only way out of this situation is to transplant the seedlings into a greenhouse or greenhouse.
In order for the tomatoes to turn red faster, you can use folk methods: at the very end of August, you can process it with garlic infusion.
For prevention, treatment can be carried out with such a solution: for 10 liters of water, you need to dissolve 1 piece of laundry soap and 20 grams of copper sulfate.
Iodine can also be used for accelerated ripening. For 10 liters of water, add 40 drops of iodine and spray the bushes.
Well, or use special preparations that are sold in gardening stores.
But during the tomato ripening procedures, watering the bushes, or adding any subcrusting is not necessary, this can reduce the effectiveness of all procedures.
Remember that such an attack can happen to absolutely every gardener, regardless of his experience, and this is absolutely no one's fault. Therefore, if this happens, you need to meet this period in all weapons and with the necessary knowledge you can quickly correct the situation.
